What? Have you never seen a jail and prison? They are in the cell they share with at least one other prisoner, if not more. I guess semi-private... but unless they are in certain areas (protective custody or isolation) they are visible at all hours and during the day the cells are usually unlocked so that anyone can see and/or enter.

Often prisoners will take off an entire pant leg to sit so they can stand and react without tripping if they are attacked while using the toilet because they cannot shut their door during the hours that they are to remain open.

That is not private. You've proven yourself wrong, there. This is what you see in the shower areas. During the day, when the cells are open you can choose to use those... however, it doesn't change what I said in my previous post.

This is in prison, not jail. The showers there are private.

You just do not realize that in many jails the showers and toilets are private.

I know what I have seen. As part of the "prison ministry" back in the day when I was forced to translate ASL for them because I had told them I did not believe. I described to you what I have seen in jails and in prisons. They haven't changed.

Yet you show me an image of a public restroom and claim that it proved something other than you are wrong? Show me this amazing new design in an American prison or jail that has folks locked into a cell using a private toilet.

It's a picture of bathroom at a prison, not jail. They have partitions. That makes it more private. You seem to think the toilets and showers are out in the open around cellmates.

That may be true in the past, but no longer. Things are changing.
