From a friend on FB, re ACA

then why did he claim he KNEW their motivation was JUST curiosity?

It is completely reasonable to think they actually went there to conduct the business the sites were designed to perform.

Its not an angry birds ap idiot.

Again... He speculated EXACTLY as you did.

You have no evidence that MILLIONS tried to sign up yesterday. NONE.

They could have been there for multiple reasons...

1) To sign up... as you suggested
2) Just to look to see if it it was something they could pursue
3) To look because someone else told them the site was down (which is what I did when Jarod first posted that)
4) To over load the site, because that is what some a-holes do these days

Those are just some off the top of my head. There were an estimated 4.5 million hits according to Tek's link... so to suggest millions tried to sign up seems a bit far fetched.

But again... the main point is that you called him a liar because he didn't have anything to back up his speculation while at the same time NEITHER DID YOU.

People go to websites all the time to check things out, without buying what the website is selling.

So we're extrapolating what millions of people may or may not do based on a few man-on-the-street interviews? OK. Sensible.

And, no, it was not obvious. The "they" was a vague pronoun and I prefer not to assume when I can ask.

What "we" (since you call "yourselves" we I'm guessing you are referring to the voices in your head) are doing is assuming that no other people would come to the same logical conclusion and do what saves them money.

What I am doing is pointing out that the Premiums cost more than the tax (must call it tax, although the law calls it a fine because the SCOTUS says it has to be a tax if it is to be constitutional) so those who they interviewed among the group called "invincibles" were 9 to 1 saying that they would pay the tax (fine) rather than buy the insurance to save money.

I wouldn't say it's a fad so much as it's a stage that young men grow up and out of. Grind and Billy are still young and convinced that they will live for ever and that bad things happen to other people and never to them and their convinced that they are special people who have made it solely on their own without ever any support from anyone.

In other words they're pissed that they are being forced to be responsible.

fuck off you piece of shit. We are perfectly capable of making our own decisions and living a life of principle. Just because you turned out to be a colossal hypocritical douche in your life doesn't mean everyone will.

There are many parts of the libertarian platform that the mainstream parties are only catching up to NOW.

Libertarianism is a fucking fad.

Its brainless bullshit dressed up to make no nothing think they are on top of all the facts.

Its completely a historically failed set of republican light ideas.

Your still a grover tool for swallowing it

gay marriage before even the democrats supported it?

a more non-interventionist foreign policy?

ending the drug war?

ending corporate subsidies?

valiant defense of the 4th amendment and americans privacy?

supporting a womens right to choose?

along with a whole host of other issues

what about these are "republican light?"

moron.

Well yea...when you consider that I and other tax payers will have to pay for your sorry ass when you get sick or hurt cause you didn't carry insurance. It's you who has an interesting definition of the term.

that is YOUR fault.. stupid.

It's a self created problem.

I would be perfectly fine with those not having healthcare being left to die.

It is you who demands everyone be taken care of, then you complain when you have to foot the bill.

"Yes" would have sufficed.

You truly epitomize what a self-absorbed little douchebag acts like!

Not surprising in the least...your own family member couldn't squeeze a drop of compassion out of you.

So far, not very many. But what I do know is this; the primary purpose of this incredibly poorly thought out legislative mess was to give people who cannot afford insurance, Insurance. Who will be paying their premiums if they are too poor to buy insurance in the first place?
.

*sigh* This.

And it gives me no pleasure to say so.

That is why the sites all shut down.

MILLIONS tried to sign up the VERY first fucking day.

MILLIONS are trying to give money to the insurance Cos yesterday.

They have months to sign up. Months before they get it.

Millions are trying to see what it's going to cost them. And if it's better than what they pay for now. Even I will check eventually.

You think people arent curious?

and they get premiums from more people.

I feel sorry for people in Alaska - just saw a comparison of costs on MSNBC and it looks like Alaska has the highest monthly premiums (they were looking at 55 yr old costs)

Wish my sister there would move someplace else...

Moving for health care though... jeez. Too bad it's not single payer; but it's a start.

Well retired people...who this will mean something to...move for those types of reasons all the time.

One positive thing perhaps.

I truly hope you don't mean what you say, but something in my gut tells me you do and that makes me sad.

You need to go smoke a joint and chill out.

The people pay and the insurance companies run it for us for a preagreed 20% profit.

This statement makes me nauseous. (Because it may be true)

Cuz it's not like they'll take a loss when the costs to patients run over. Oh no. The cutbacks will be in care.

And it makes me sick because some people seem to think it's acceptable.

All of this debate about the ACA is moot.

Obama ran on it - it was the cornerstone of his campaign, and he won handily. It passed Congress, and became law.

That is exactly how democracy works. What is happening in Washington right now isn't democracy. It's sour grapes being practiced by a bunch of children who should be removed from office as soon as possible.

Some of us voted for him despite knowing he'd be attempting it.

1) It turned out even worse than I expected.

2) There were other issues besides this.

3) There wasnt a better choice to vote on.

Do you think some people care about their credit, lol, especially those using the emergency room for healthcare?

If you can afford to pay your medical out of pocket, then you can afford to pay the fine ;)

If you are willing to pay out of pocket for your health care, it seems unfair to make you pay a fine.

(Life's not fair, dats tru)
