God is not intelligent, or, why I am a pantheist

ass-human.

"ass-human"? That sounds like you have gender-neutralized an insult phrase. I'm not sure I understand it. Is this a politically correct version of "ass-man"? I'm not familiar with that as an insult.

Either way, kudos. Spokes person, chair person, ass human. Very egalitarian of you.

it is a human born of the anal canal in a demon-like fashion.

First part good question, when I had my Epiphany ,the Holy Spirit spent over a year just starting to teach me about Passover! How could my "imagination" teach me about Passover ,when I had zero religious teachings.

I love hearing stories like that. I have never met someone who grew up here in America that had never heard anything about the Hebrew Bible or Jesus or anything like that and figured it out without ANY input from any external source. That's almost miraculous if not fully miraculous.

I am curious, though, what sort of conditions you grew up in that you were completely isolated from anything even remotely related to Judeo-Christianity. Were you raised and grew up outside of the US? Was it in some place like North Korea or Turkmenistan where information available to the people is super limited?

Some things being "need to know" is the difference between religion and theology!

I must disagree here. "Need to know" is hidden knowledge. As I understand God I can't imagine why he'd hide anything from us. Hiding implies deceit and that doesn't square with what we think God is all about.

Agreed. The whole "need to know" thing strikes me as a distinctly more mortal type of thing, specifically an "us vs. them" deal. Thus, things like the Manhattan Project, which is the first time I heard of this "need to know" business. Incidentally, I thought Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer was great:

Totally an aside to this thread but if you liked Oppenheimer I've got a book for you. It's "The Making of the Atomic Bomb" by Richard Rhodes. It is HANDS DOWN the single best science/history/politics book I've ever read. Rhodes is a brilliant story teller who can still put across the cool technical details as well.

Truly worth the cost of the book.

actually all tribes of more than a few people figure out the golden rule without any intercession by the learned human fathers of mental imperialism, the mason totalitarian religion abusers.

people figure out empathy and reciprocity the world over.

you couldn't be more wrong.

Understanding that one should treat others as they want to be treated is a VERY different thing from being able to "know" detailed information about various religious rituals without any experience or knowledge of them.

It is always surprising to meet people who have never heard of or had any information about the Judeo-Christian traditions so it would be a miracle for that person to actually be able to know anything about something like Passover.

you couldn't be more wrong.

I will have to trust you. I've never met anyone who actually was raised in modern society (at least here in the West) who somehow made it to adulthood without ANY knowledge of the dominant religious traditions of most of the West. So it's pretty astounding that someone could then figure out "Passover".

Oh i thought you were talking about something that mattered.

the only thing that matters about religion is the moral teachings.

i assert you cannot make a compelling case that anything else is more important.

I actually like the second part of this. which I didn't read before, because I'm a dick, and a sinner.

Jesus was against the mystery schools.

they are descendants of the sophists, perverted drug-addicted deformed bullshitter.

It is interesting, though, that some feel some of Paul's writings lean toward the Gnostic end of things.
