Götterdämmerung -- The Twilight of the Gods

I don't care either, but I like to call lefties out when they dishonestly perpetuate the notion that Trump called the virus itself a hoax. You won't call cypress out on this because he is a fellow lefty.

I'll move on once cypress quits trying to cover for the dishonest misinformation that he slipped into his first post on this thread. I never let up on liars until they slink off back into the darkness or admit their lie. Why don't you condemn cypress for his role in this? Because he is a lefty?

I never said Trump called the virue itself a made up, make believe hoax. Everybody knew the virus existed, as confirmed my laboratory and medical proof

You are a liar.

Trump called the serious risk of the pandemic a Democratic hoax, and Trump and you consistently minimized and downplayed the risk

Oh, this is good:

"Asked what he thought of Western civilization, Mahatma Gandhi famously replied, “I think that would be a good idea.” " -OP link

In a dark season of pestilence, COVID has reduced to tatters the illusion of American exceptionalism. At the height of the crisis, with more than 2,000 dying each day, Americans found themselves members of a failed state, ruled by a dysfunctional and incompetent government largely responsible for death rates that added a tragic coda to America’s claim to supremacy in the world.

For the first time, the international community felt compelled to send disaster relief to Washington. For more than two centuries, reported the Irish Times, “the United States has stirred a very wide range of feelings in the rest of the world: love and hatred, fear and hope, envy and contempt, awe and anger. But there is one emotion that has never been directed towards the U.S. until now: pity.” As American doctors and nurses eagerly awaited emergency airlifts of basic supplies from China, the hinge of history opened to the Asian century.

It is not covid or Trump that has beat up our country, it is lefty violence, MSM disinformation, a marxist revolution, people who think it is funny that Gandhi suggested that western civilization should become civilized, and radical lefty politics.

What an article that OP link is:

"Finns live longer and are less likely to die in childhood or in giving birth than Americans. Danes earn roughly the same after-tax income as Americans, while working 20 percent less. They pay in taxes an extra 19 cents for every dollar earned. But in return they get free health care, free education from pre-school through university, and the opportunity to prosper in a thriving free-market economy with dramatically lower levels of poverty, homelessness, crime, and inequality. The average worker is paid better, treated more respectfully, and rewarded with life insurance, pension plans, maternity leave, and six weeks of paid vacation a year. All of these benefits only inspire Danes to work harder, with fully 80 percent of men and women aged 16 to 64 engaged in the labor force, a figure far higher than that of the United States."

"What we had instead was a president and large parts of one of our major political parties calling it a Democratic hoax, that it was no different than the common cold."

The OP link story defines 'deplorable:'

"Evidence of such terminal decadence is the choice that so many Americans made in 2016 to prioritize their personal indignations, placing their own resentments above any concerns for the fate of the country and the world, as they rushed to elect a man whose only credential for the job was his willingness to give voice to their hatreds, validate their anger, and target their enemies, real or imagined. "

Your misinterpretation.

Nobody, including Trump, thought the COVID 19 virus did not exist, that it was made up and make believe.

The Deplorables on this forum have consistently referred to calls of alarm to take the risk seriously a Democratic hoax, and this has happened so frequently it is no longer necessary to be verbose and descriptive about the context of we are talking about.

The OP article finale is a sobering kicker:

"Between praising the Chinese for their treatment of the Uighurs, describing their internment and torture as “exactly the right thing to do,” and his dispensing of medical advice concerning the therapeutic use of chemical disinfectants, Trump blithely remarked, “One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.” He had in mind, of course, the coronavirus, but, as others have said, he might just as well have been referring to the American dream."

Probably right. We are inching closer every day. So much hatred, resentment and bitterness that we are viciously divided. I have to wonder how the haters think America can be great with so much hatred for fellow Americans? All this bitter resentment and anger is 'great?'

That's ridiculous. The America Trump fans envision cannot exist. Having a minority of nasty people control everything for their own selfishness does not make a country great.

If the MAGA crowd got everything they wanted, America would not be great.

The MAGA crowd does not know how to make a country great.

I can tell you one thing. A bitterly divided country is not great.

'Making the liberals cry' does not make a country great. That's BS. What fools!

'Greatness' has never been defined as 'the embodiment of hatred.'

Hello ThatOwlWoman,

For one thing, our RW friends -- no matter what their personal economic situation is like -- would NEVER stand for a 90% marginal tax rate on the uber-wealthy. Isn't it strange how back then, it didn't "kill job creation" but now it would?

Yeah, I didn't hear of any 'mass exodus' of 'job creators' back when the top marginal tax rate was 93%.

But ya sure have to hand it to the super-rich, to get all these poor people to give them the power to lower their own taxes.

I can just hear the mass exodus sputtering to a halt right now:

"Honey, they are raising our taxes. We have to move to Nowhere's-ville so we can protect all the extra wealth we could never spend in a lifetime."

"Go ahead, dear. I'm staying here near the grandchildren so we can still be a part of their lives."

"But I'm doing this for the grandchildren, honey."

"So am I."

I've never understood why so many Americans have the mentality that America has to be #1 (in what, I don't know).
I'm just happy I live in a democracy and not California.

Your attempts to cover your tracks are more dishonest than your original dishonestly.

Your attempts to cover your tracks are more dishonest than your original dishonestly.
A tacit admission of your misinterpreting and misrepresenting my words.

If I have consistently wrote that Trump and his fanboys have downplayed the risk, and compared COVID to the conventional seasonal flu virus-- only a utter retard or a liar would interpret that to mean I was claiming Trump did not think the COVID virus actually existed: that it was non-existent, a made up and make believe hoax

As long as we pretend we are still #1 w/o doing anything to BE #1, and elect ppl who want to shut off trade and relations with other nations, we will continue to lose prestige, influence, and respect. Right now we are the world's pariah and our citizens are not welcomed in most of the planet's countries.

Which is why competition, often through capitalism but sometimes through governments, is good. Is there any doubt that the major nations are competing to be the first to provide a viable vaccine for COVID-19? So much competition, in fact, that both Russia and China tried to hack their way into medical centers researching it?

Competition can be very good. If we want to be #1 or stay #1, then, as you pointed out, have to earn that spot.

Hello Trumpet,

It will take many years to repair the damage by Trump and his lackey followers.

Some of the damage can never be repaired. We can never let this happen again. People need to take politics more seriously and get informed and active.

Trump is the result of apathy.

We have enough sentient beings in the nation to have prevented this.

They just need to be paying attention and voting.

We gotta get the word out to save the USA.

I strive for accuracy. This is why I can tell you that we would not be in the hideous condition we are now if it were not for #COVID45's total mishandling of the national response to the pandemic within our borders. I could not care less if he called it a hoax or not. The *only* thing that matters is that he fucked it up, and now 160,000 of our neighbors, friends, family, coworkers, citizens are DEAD.

We can and will correct this mistake in November.

Trump should certainly be held accountable for the actions of the Executive branch as should those in the Legislative branch for America's failure to respond to a national crisis. A good part of that fault goes back to our national government in the early 90s when they started dismantling the Civil Defense network and preparing for such a national catastrophe. 9/11 was one result of this trend and Katrina was another. Now we can't even afford to pay our way out of this crisis; our government is printing money like they would Monopoly money and a shockingly high national debt as a result.

All due to breaking a common Boy Scout rule: Be Prepared. We, the People, fucked up by not paying attention to where our government was taking us. Instead, we let them divide us and push themselves towards extremes.

So, what did Trump call a hoax? Was it people saying the virus was a serious danger that required a major response from the government? THAT was the "hoax"?

it is dishonest to perpetuate the notion that Trump called the virus itself a hoax, but lefties keep doing it. When I call lefties out for dishonestly perpetuating this notion, it has nothing to do with what else Trump was talking about. Just the notion that Trump called the virus itself a hoax.

Hello Phantasmal,

This is exactly what he does, using phrases like, “it may or may not”.

He also thinks it’s just going to disappear. I see no indication of that at this time. He basis his inaction on this false notion.

And the ever-worn-out: "We'll see." Seems to be what he says when he has no idea what's going on with an issue. He says that a lot.

Because of our extremely poor leadership.
