Gay couples who wish to be in a committed relationship should receive the same governmental benefits that straight couples receive. They provide the same benefits to society, with the sole exception of being able to procreate without assistance. And since straight couples who cannot procreate are still allowed to marry, your argument becomes either ignorance or prejudice. Pick one.

So your answer to the need for more stable families is to not allow a group to marry based on your own biased opinions? If procreation is the only reason for marriage, why are those who cannot procreate still allowed to marry? If gays are not allowed to marry because they are not "normal", why is the yardstick of normalcy applied to straight marriages?

Ya think ? We had tortoises one of which was just livelier than the other and he would walk in straight lines and just go over whatever was in the way including the other one. These are not smart critters. But dont get between them and a strawberry.

it is illogical to argue that the government imposing a law that requires you to treat something in a particular way has no effect on you.....you know perfectly well that if the government imposed a law that you found objectionable you would say there was an effect.....

How will you be required to treat gays in any way? They are already couples. The marriage does not change anything that effects you. They gain benefits and a more stable relationship is created, especially where children are concerned.

You will not be "required" to approve or accept anything.

if I run a business and they ask for spousal benefits may I say "sorry, the fact that you call yourself married does not effect me"?......can I say "I am not required to approve or accept anything"?.......

When one of the arguments against gay marriage is that homosexuality is unnatural, showing examples of homosexual behavior (as has been done numerous times) is a viable response. Same-sex pairings have been documents in numerous species and without any relevance to domination. National Geographic did a fascinating piece on it several years ago.
