I suggest a real quote box altering rule.

Pictures like this give me a widdle woody:

You need to hook up with a nice MAGAt in-the-closet male, Legina.

What's to edit? Are you saying people shouldn't use the "@" function or not regardless of the whines coming from @RB 60, @The Trump Administration, @Into the Night and the other trolls on JPP?
I'm saying you shouldn't use features of the board to try to troll folks with excessive notifications. And that if I continue to get complaints I may have to make a rule. I'd prefer that we just stop trying to purposefully annoy folks so I don't have to think up the wording of another annoying rule.

Does this only apply to me or does it apply to @Lionfish and all of his socks, @Into the Night and all of his socks, @Truth Detector and the others who post half a dozen or more trolling posts in a row?

FWIW, I'd be happy to comply with a "no trolling" rule that enforced equally against everyone on JPP. It's pretty common on other forums.

OTOH, if it's just against me because trolls keep reporting me then it's clear you are taking sides and using your powers as owner to ban those with whom you oppose politically since all of those mentioned are MAGAts.

Since I'm neither a MAGAt nor a Democrat, I have no one to speak for me. :)

Example:
First they came for the Liberals, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Liberal.

Then they came for the Muslims, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Muslim.

Then they came for the Gays, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not Gay.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

They are not first posting something with the @ mention so they get notified, then deleting the @ mention from the post using the edit feature so that they get notified that they've been mentioned, but then are not when they follow the notification.

Also overuse of the feature needs to stop. If I come on and am notified of tons of posts that I am notified in but I find they are just doing it to annoy using the notifications I would be annoyed and I'd make the problem go away...

I've never used the "@" function and deleted it....but thanks for the idea. <--Joke

Why delete it? That doesn't make sense. Trolls like @Into the Night, @Truth Detector and @Lionfish plus all of their socks post inane trolling posts daily. @RB 60 chased me around the forum calling me a coward, accusing me of stolen valor and insulting his mommy. None of which is true. I fail to see why their posts are different from me using the "@" sign to alert them I'm posting about them.

FWIW, I consider people who talk behind another person's back to be cowardly. Hence, whenever I mention another user's name, I use the "@" function.

Please link, either publicly or via DM, the posts @TOP, @Lionfish and others are complaining about so that you and I can discuss it.

So that folks are notified abundantly and often only to find that the post it links to has no mention of them. For some, they were getting a ton of notifications only to find they were never quoted... now they are getting notified that they are mentioned but are not...

Regardless, before I have to write a rule I'd just like whatever is happening that does this to end. I don't care how you do it or why I only care that it causes me grief and that folks don't like it. While they can turn off the notifications it makes it so they don't get any notifications when they like going back to the conversation, etc. They don't want to do that.

You're the biggest lying, perverted, detestable, mentally deficient piece-of-shit coward on this forum.

Again, please cite the quotes or check the dates of the posts yourself. I'm certain you'll find that the posts were dated prior to your first public chastisement of me about usual suspects whining about me. I don't use the "@" function and delete it.

I'm guessing the top complainers to be weak-minded and poorly educated, if not mentally ill MAGAts such as @TOP, @RB 60, @Lionfish AKA @The Trump Administration AKA @zymurgy AKA @ziggy , @Earl , @Into the Night AKA @IBDaMann AKA @gfm7175 AKA @Uncensored2008 and the like.

TIA

May I suggest...

...always trying to help :)

Well, you are the one that seems to do it, then edit it out so that some folks are getting many notifications only to find that they were "not mentioned"...
As far as I'm concerned, this behavior is effectively hijacking a feature of the forum for abusive purposes. Why is this even tolerated?? Why is there no rule against this kind of hacking?

Make the rule.

Stop abusing the software, Sybil.

I don't know. I don't have a rule about it... so if I make a rule you'll know it annoyed me enough to make it count.
I guarantee that Dutch will keep doing it right up until the very moment that you make an official rule about it. He's not going to honor any of your "requests", specifically because they are not official rules. That's how his mind operates.

I had to add him to my ignore list because this notification "trick" of his got too annoying. I still click on "show hidden content" to view everything that he posts, but at least I don't receive his purposely annoying (non)notifications anymore.

Since it's not a rule on the site, why don't you tell the complainers just to put that person on ignore? That way they don't get the notifications?
That is what other admins everywhere else would say if someone has an issue. Easy and quick fix.

Naturally, the people who you are purposely doing it to are going to be the very same people who are complaining about it, as they are the people who are being affected by it.

I solved this issue by putting you on ignore and simply clicking on "show ignored content" to still read all of your posts but not receive your annoying (non)notifications.
