Idaho tries to enforce "slowpoke law" against left lane blockers

That is a desperate attempt to save face. Everything discussed in this thread is a civil infraction. That certainly includes simple speeding or passing you on the right, or left for that matter.

I am not attempting to save anything.
Speeding on the highway is dangerous and illegal.
You are trying to justify your dangerous and illegal behavior to yourself, just as any common criminal would.

I wasn't taking about an Interstate road or a freeway, I specifically pointed out that this pertains to a two lane road.
OIC. Many refer to a four lane divided highway as two, two lane "roadways".
I'm just pointing out that as long as you are going 55 or above in the left lane here, you are good to go.
Many speed demons at JPP seem to see that speed in the left as punishable by death.

Stick with being the racist chihuahua because you don't know the differences between crimes and civil infractions. I don't like to repeat myself but this thread is about minor civil infractions, punishable by fines and maybe "points" on one's license to drive. Infractions might also cost more in insurance premiums, but they are not crimes.

You appear to be dedicated to showing everyone how stupid you truly are.

Please continue. :D

All quotes are in "black and white", you fucking loon.

And if you click on the little blue box, with the white >> to the right of the person's name, they'll take you directly to the post that is quoted.

Looks like Moony is having a "Daesh" moment. :cof1:

Shoplifting is also punishable by a fine.
Is that okay to do too, in your book too?
If it's only a fine, it can't be a crime, right?

Not where I live. Find an online legal dictionary. A crime can lead to being jailed. Simple speeding or improper lane changes, etc. are civil infractions, punishable by fines.

Stop embarrassing yourself. I'm beginning to feel sorry for you.

Infractions
Infractions (sometimes called violations) are petty offenses that are typically punishable by fines, but not jail time. Because infractions cannot result in a jail sentence or even probation, defendants charged with infractions do not have a right to a jury trial. A defendant who has been charged with an infraction can hire an attorney, but the government doesn't have a constitutional duty to appoint one. Often, prosecutors don't appear on behalf of the government in cases involving infractions. Traffic offenses are the most common form of infraction. (Note that some states consider certain kinds of infractions like traffic tickets to be civil, rather than criminal, offenses.)

Infraction Example. Ginger receives a speeding ticket. After Ginger and the officer who issued the ticket testify, the judge concludes that Ginger was speeding. Ginger's punishment is limited to a fine and the addition of a point to her driving record.

Your presentation was from 8 years ago.

Things were changed and it's no longer a speeding defense to say you were just traveling as fast as everyone else.

I can drive 65 in the left lane and there's nothing anyone can do about it. :D

Unless you are a badass Coloradan with a pick-up truck. :D

This is actually more complicated than it sounds.

If you move over into the left lane to pass slower traffic, but then as you get even that traffic speeds back up, you are kind of stuck. Especially if there is another vehicle behind you.

Now you have a choice.

You can start speeding to complete the pass, but that's a violation.

If you just stay there and wait, then the driver behind you gets frustrated and starts dangerously tailgating.

If you try to obey the traffic laws you have no way out.

You could be cited for slowing down to try to legally move right without speeding.

It's a terrible law.

The primary consideration needs to be safety, not expediency.

30,000 people die each year on our highways.

THIRTY THOUSAND! (actually more)

That's a lot of indifference and stupid selfish driving.

We need a new law which requires every single car to have a prominently placed plaque on the dashboard:

"Driving is the most dangerous thing most people ever do. Today could be your last day alive. Please drive safely."

Speed fast enough and often enough and you will find yourself in the calaboose for driving to endanger.
It is against the law, no matter how much you try to make yourself feel good about it.

No one should ever feel intimidated by anyone's impatience on the road.

She's one of the most useless posters here, and one of the select few that I have on ignore. Life is much better when you have the freedom of not suffering fools.

That little pedal under your right foot? Learn how to use it.

On a divided highway, you should be doing the speed limit or up to four over in the travel lane. If someone is going slower and you need to pass them, do so briskly. Cops don't have any problem with you speeding up to seven or nine over to do that.

Hello Leonthecat,

No one should ever feel intimidated by anyone's impatience on the road.

It doesn't matter whether you feel intimidated or not.

Tailgaters put you in a situation where you must choose between safety and obeying the law.

To obey the law you will be forced to accept dangerous close proximity.

To get safe distance from crazy aggressive drivers, you have to exceed the posted speed limit.
