Is Newt Right?

Solzhenitsyn pointed out in his Harvard speech (1978) that people tend to say and think what is in fashion rather than what is true, and Yglesias said on his Twitter right after leaving Vox that for the most part people dont care about what is true/not true or if their ideas work in practice, all they care about are ego strokes and if the culture wars are going their way.

As for your quote Gad Saad talks about that all the time.

did you see the recent gad sad and j. peterson thing about parasitic thoughts?

They have done each others podcast, I have seen both. Tom Bilyeu did Peterson which I have also seen. I am half done with Peterson on Rubin.

It is so great to have Jordan back, he is no where near 100% by his own admission but damn he is still a much needed breath of fresh air.

"So far as I can see what we are watching is a war on competence driven by resentment, a replay of the Cain and Abel story (paraphrase)"

Which happened because over a long period of time, at least 50 years, we have allowed ourselves to be corrupted, we have not cared enough about truth and we have not acted in love....we have not lived well/right...which Jordan says through these hours of conversation he has done recently but not directly. I of course name the #1 driver of this as the Victim Culture Cult.

That is where the resentment comes from.

and on a deep level, the very idea that suffering can be avoided, or even should be, leads to a narcissistic detachment from reality.

I don't know if petersen said that directly, but he made me think it. lol. so deep this guy.

Yes, Thomas Moore (Care of the Soul) talks about this all the time...the only way past suffering is to go through suffering....to let it work on us....to teach us....it is food for the soul. Our constantly doing what ever we can do to avoid suffering keeps us working at a lower level on consciousness, and in the end essentially kills us. A lot of people use the metaphor of a flower that cant get what it needs in nutrients, it will never be what it could have been, if the situation has been allowed to get very bad then it dies.

wise.

when you can't deal with adversity, you don't know how strong you really are. so you're afraid. and fear lowers consciousness, like you were saying.

What really got me, I cant remember which one(s) he said it in of his recent podcasts, but that an essential part of what went wrong is that we have stopped walking in love. I cant recall him saying that before, and he is of course correct....people now so often cant/wont even love themselves, much less others.

I think that this can be tied directly to the decline of Christianity.

Thus the reason helicopter parenting was from the jump at the very least deeply ignorant, it not flat out abusive.

I have heard people argue that helicopter parenting is pure narcissism, an argument that I mostly buy.

definitely the rise of reductionist materialism...

god loves everyone. utilitarian materialists love efficiency. that's a big ontological difference and a very different basis for a society...

and we know everybody, religions have done awful things too. so lets just not go there.

and it's annoying. did you ever try to hang out with helicopter parents. they're boring and have become stupid.

If you dont know the story you should study how the romp of the efficiency experts, which happened about 100 years ago, went bust because focusing almost exclusively on efficiency chews up humans. We are not built for that, that is not who we are.

We have of course forgotten those lessons, so we have been doomed to relearn them.

it boggles me how these "enlightened lefties" just accept human slavery and organ harvesting, oppression, tyranny, reeducation camps....

I have to think there's evil involved, as passe as that is.

Surely you have heard me talk about how sadistic people are now....

I like George Santayana too, but when will you be giving more solutions and less whining, #10?
