Recipe for Humble Pie

Eating a slice - or two - of Humble Pie is an experience everyone should have. In fact, I think it should be a regular part of the menu. Humble pie tastes tart and sweet at the same time... it’s more of an acquired taste. It doesn’t need to be on the menu daily, but it’s an important part of learning a lesson or two in humility.

Eating Humble Pie is a great way to remind ourselves of a few things:

There are other people, who are just as dedicated and hardworking as we are
There is more than one way of doing things
It’s not about being “right” or “wrong”, but about respecting differences
We should never assume that we’re “too good” for certain jobs or better than other people.
Starting at the bottom and not having everything fall into our lap can be a lifesaver
Failure tastes like whipped cream when eaten on Humble Pie.

For the crust:
A whole bunch of confidence
A good portion of “expertise”
A dash of know-it-all
For the filling:
Use equal parts of:

Computers crashing and data being lost
Forgetting something
Not showing up for someone
Breaking a promise
Sprinkle with a dash of bad luck and stir well.
In a separate bowl, add:

One unhappy customer or coworker
Being wrong about something
Being schooled by one of your peers
Not being able to prove something
Really screwing up and making a bad choice
Stir well.
Mix the two batches together and add the secret ingredient: losing a friend over a social media dispute - that really makes the filling stick together.

For the topping:
Mix a heaping spoonful of realization with someone showing you grace and sprinkle on top.

Let sit overnight, then bake at 350° for 60 minutes. Enjoy regularly and try it with a side of failure sometime...

Bon appetit!

I have to warn you - you probably won’t like it the first time you try it - but it kind of grows on you... In fact, the taste changes from bitter to bittersweet and finally to sweet. Because we grow - as entrepreneurs, as coworkers, as friends, as people - with every slice we eat. It’s a great reality check and something to keep us grounded.

P.S. - Humble Pie can be enjoyed at any age, so don’t be afraid to serve a slice to your kids!

Was Cypress the one that shared Russian/Ukrainian things, or am I thinking of someone else? Anyway this is a delicious looking one from a Ukrainian site.

I have had a lot of East Slavic food, but have not seen this one. It looks pretty good!

I am probably biased, but I believe the Slavs are highly under-rated in the dessert department.

My friend Svetlana is from Ukraine, and her specialty is Bird's Milk Cake. It is incredible!

Well, boys and girls, I grabbed a Papa Murphy's Take and Bake pizza to try on my Traeger grill for the first time. The last time I did a pizza in my oven is the last time I did a pizza in the oven. What an amazing difference! Now, onward and upward to concoct my own for the smoker.

BTW, worked a Home Show over the weekend and finally broke down and bought a My Pillow. I've always been fascinated by his great ads. What a terrific pillow! Highly recommended.

Wish I'd quit forgetting to look for this thread. That sounds awesome! My husband is looking at getting one of the Green Eggs. Any opinions on those?

We had so many awesome BBQ places in STL. The meats were smoked, shredded, and served "dry" with different sauces that you could choose from That Carolina mustard sauce was often one of the offerings.

We grilled t-bones the other day and had one left over. So sliced it thin tonight and made a mushroom and sweet pepper stir fry out of it, with a chili-ginger sauce. Turned out good.

I don’t have one, but those that do have raved about them.

We've heard that too. Hopefully someone here will have some insights. They're super pricey but supposed to be excellent. I like that you can basically use them as an outdoor oven and stove in the summer (which is great for us since we don't have a/c up here). You can smoke foods, bake, grill, with precise temps up to 750F.

I have said it to this Jade cat before, but I really like his thread contributions in general.

Civilized, interesting, and in good taste.

You would be actually surprised how many posters here are mainly interested in girlish gossiping, lying, indulging in resentment, slander, libel, obsessing over the trivial and inconsequential. More than a few righting posters are so mind-numbingly boring it is possible that I am getting carpal tunnel scrolling past all the tepid mediocrity!!

Wrapping it up, I hope this Jade dude keeps up the good work!

Cabbage rolls are always good. I was thinking about making this around my birthday on May 23rd, to celebrate that, and the warmer weather. It works if you like your desserts, and booze together. https://www.lemonsforlulu.com/mojit...gn=yummly&utm_medium=yummly&utm_source=yummly It should be reminded that with the glaze it is still has alcohol.
