Where is Karen Bass? LA Mayor Returns From Ghana Trip as City Burns

Mayor Karen Bass has been criticized after it emerged she was out of the country, attending a presidential inauguration in Ghana, as northern and western suburbs of her city were hit by devastating wildfires fanned by high winds.

Media outlet INKL News reported this morning that Bass was on her way back to Los Angeles and should return to the city within hours.

Newsweek contacted Bass' office for comment on Wednesday via telephone and voicemail message outside of regular office hours.

Bass was elected in the 2022 Los Angeles mayoral election, defeating billionaire real estate developer Rick Caruso, a fellow Democrat, with 43.1 percent of the vote against 36 percent.

She has come under attack for not returning to the U.S. sooner in response to the infernos, with Caruso telling local network Fox 11 that there had been a "failure" of leadership and management adding that "everybody knew these winds were coming" so the risk should have been anticipated.

Caruso also questioned why brush in the hills surrounding Los Angeles hadn't been removed to reduce the fire risk and claimed a "reservoir was not refilled in time and in a timely manner to keep the hydrants going," which he blamed on city authorities.

Bass has provided a succession of updates via social media. At around 2:30 a.m. PST, on 𝕏, she wrote: "Our LAFD and LAPDHQ Teams continue to work overnight to protect Angelenos affected:.

But @Walt says it's none of her business, or something.

But, can and will she play the violin...?

Fire hydrants dry because nobody filled the reservoirs.
Environmentalists refuse to allow brush to be removed.
The LBGTQIAXYZPDM fire chief is touting her DEI hiring, The mayor is out of the country,
The governor is a greasy haired waste of skin,
EV's running out of charge are being pushed off the road with dozers so firefighters can get through,
Other than that CA is just wonderful.

California Caught Off Guard By Massive Fires After LA Fire Dept Spent Years Pushing Diversity, ‘Racial Equity’

When are the residents of CA going to learn? Perhaps their treatment from FEMA will be the same as the residents of Maui? I doubt that to be true.

It's not. Read back through the thread. Newsom already got FEMA grants.
Trump, among others, accurately pointed out the Fire management problems in CA. If memory serves me correctly, and it does, CA was dumping water into the ocean instead of filling its reservoirs.

I hate to say this because there are so many good people in CA but the entire rat's nest of politicians needs to be removed.

Why hate to say it? It seems obvious to me.

None of the fires are in LA. Los Angeles(LA) is a city within Los Angeles County (LA County). The fires are in and around Pasadena, not LA. A real news source would get that right.
The largest fire is currently the Palisades fire. This is in the hills NW of downtown L.A., not east, Wally.
The Eaton fire is burning into the hills NE of downtown L.A. and closest to Pasadena.
The Hurst fire and the Hughes 2 fire is burning around the town of Santa Clarita, N of downtown L.A.
The Brown fire is burning near Riverside.
The Scout Mtn fire is burning near Mt. Palomar.
The Tyler fire is burning in the Choachella valley.
The Cattle fire is burning on the Fort Yuma indian reservation.
