Legal Immigration

'No Vacancy'. We don't need no more fucking people. We have enough. Stop with the 'immigration'. Our Future is Robotics, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Off Shoring.

Smell the fucking coffee!!!

when you are at VERY low unemployment that is when you take on immigrants

Someone has to make the coffee, serve it and clean up after. Someone has to have a coffee shop and sell it.

One would think the current minorities would be happy to get some money for making and serving the coffee instead of applying for welfare.

The problem is those making it, serving it, and cleaning up after it want $15/hour to do a job that involves $2/hour skills. I'll make my own,, serve my own, and clean up after myself.

As long as you have able bodied leeches that claim they can't find a job while living on welfare programs, you have them do the type things you want immigrants to do telling them that if they refuse, they're on their own.

Tech firms have a lousy reputation for abusing H1B immigration visas. Nationwide Insurance has a terrible reputation for that here in Cbus. They claim that there aren’t enough qualified candidates. Considering we have one of the largest State Universities in the nation that graduate more qualified tech workers each year than Nationwide could hire that’s laughable. Most of Nationwide tech workers are from SE Asian countries who earn 50 to 60% of what their American counterparts earn.

So there is serious and legitimate concern that legal immigration prioritizing the visa process for business will and has undermine US labor and more significantly as it’s undermining labor at a high level and not the bottom of the wage market as illegals do.

However the most common misconception is that most legal immigration is for business reasons. It is not. Currently and for a long time now the legal immigration visa process prioritizes family and not business. Which is how it should be.

Nearly 1 million immigrants come here each year. More than double the numbers of illegals. Of that number the large majority are immigrating on K visas. That is they are being sponsored by spouses, fiancée and imeadiate family members (parents and children) of US citizens. Those visa applicants go to the front of the line of the visa process as they should.

The US government prioritizes family in the immigration process as families are the most important functional units of society thus the needs of families of US citizens are rightfully prioritized over other interest including business.

So that’s a misconception about legal immigration that they are coming here for jobs. They are not. They are immigrating largely to Unite families.

Wow ... Unite Families ... I can see why Conservatives would be pissed.

I'm 55, I've NEVER had my Job taken by an Illegal or Legal Immigrants

... so I would suggest that those people who think their Jobs are being taken by Immigrants, step up their game.

I have a STEM degree and I’ve embarrassed foreign tech workers bragging that Americans need to step up their game by informing that I earn more than double their wages and they got hired cause they were both qualified and cheap.

Yep. Good for you. My husband -- with 31 years in IT and a masters -- lost his job at a large health insurance carrier in 2013 to an H1B Visa person from India, as did a number of his coworkers. In fact in his IT department, the only American citizen employees that they kept were three women who had "only" associates degrees in IT/computer programming. These women were, of course, paid far less than my husband and his colleagues, so they were allowed to remain.

The H1B visa program is a joke and is abused by American companies at the expense of American citizens.

Did those folks have to sneak across the border illegally to get to their interview?
My instinct tells me they did not.

So you work a job even immigrants won't do? It must be a shitty job.

Your husband should have stepped up his game.
