Madison Cawthorn Urges Fellow Conservatives to Leave College: 'I Am Proudly a Dropout

If one is going to college simply with the thought of making money, they probably should drop out.

Going to college generally means having an eye towards a career. But one should be there first and foremost to study something they enjoy and will be fulfilling to them in the long run.

Not everyone is going to enjoy chemical engineering or law torts.

Obviously you never had to pay for an education nor get one. :palm:

I had an eye towards a career when I went. But I was also there for the intellectual freedom, the chance to interact and network with interesting, driven, high-quality people, and to pursue education in a major which really interested me.

:eyeroll:

Fear of the unknown is a factor, the more educated you are the more you realize there are no black and white answers, if freaks weak people out.

I think part of it is a 50 year propaganda campaign by rightwing media to convince their cannon fodder base higher education is the province of Marxists, eggheads of dubious character, and useless basket weaving majors.

I really think there is a strain of Victorian-era conservatism which thinks average schmucks do not deserve higher education, let alone have the government subsidize it.

There is also a sizeable fraction of conservatives who want to undermine the trust in expertise - aka, trust in people with PhDs in genetics, climate sciences, pathology.

Hostility to higher education generally comes from college dropouts like Mr. Cawthorn, those who never went to college, or conservatives.

I think most educated people tend to vote more liberally, but its not due to indoctrination, its the nature of being an educated person, you understand so realities.

I guess I should credit you for being transparent, Universities aren't about learning or anything else other than making kids vote how you want.

And on that you are actually mistaken. For a long time, those with college degrees voted for Republicans. The Democrats were the party of the working guy, many of whom didn't have college degrees. But due to globalization, offshoring and the advancement of technology we know many of those old school factory jobs are gone. Thus jobs with greater demand for college degrees. Nonetheless it wasn't until 2016 and Trump that more college degree folks voted Democratic I believe.

But it is funny to see how Democrats used to be for the working guy and now you sh*t on people who don't go to college.

You have no integrity and lie overtly about what Jarod actually says.

Universities are about learning, that's why the CONSERVatives hate them, education is revolutionary. Who is shitting on anyone for not going to college... ??

Educated have always been the more liberal. The Conservatives killed Galileo for telling the truth.

In justifying his remarks, the North Carolina Republican pointed to his own homeschooling education.

"If you are not becoming an engineer or a doctor or a lawyer, I highly encourage you to drop out. It's a scam," the congressman said.

The native of Asheville, North Carolina also implored those listening to "try and have a great job, you should be as successful as you possibly can."

Cawthorn spent a single semester at Patrick Henry College in 2017 before dropping out with mostly D grades, according to a deposition obtained by The Washington Post. He was also reportedly rejected from the U.S. Naval Academy.

Back to trolling I see. Par for the course but an element of irony considering you claim to be the most educated person on the board.
