Most Conservatives Still Believe The Civil War Wasn't Over Slavery

Racists always lie to themselves; how else could they be racists? It's like the way the scumbag leadership liked to pretend they were Mediaeval aristocrats - total bullshit.

That's not debatable either. The Democrats will always act like Democrats.

Throughout history the southern poor were regarded as idle and ignorant, as you know, by all the bosses, Southern and Northern. They didn't respect hard work, because 'blacks' did it. It's the same reason as that which kept classical Greek science purely theoretical: slaves use their hands!

Again, it is not debatable that the minority slaveholders had no respect for labor. I should call you Don Quixote.

No - like Conservatives, 'Communists', 'Liberals' or whatever they will inevitably change out of all recognition under different leaderships and different intellectual pressures, as have in fact the Democrats and Republicans, depending on whether they represent the South or not.

If you know how to pronounce it. We won't go into what I'll call you! :) It is really a question of what the 'white' cannon-fodder thought of themselves that matters, and the answer seems to be, 'not much'.

Well no, I meant I knew he was a lib pretending to be a "racist conservative".

OIC, sorry. Well, Jack aka Katrina/Skip/Jasper/Winston Smith/Hairy Harry/etc etc etc is no more a liberal than I am a NASA astronaut. He just plays the part of one for his own amusement. As you can see, he also plays the part of a racist conservative. Mostly, he just plays ppl.

and they attacked because the Union refused to honor the secession and leave territory that was no longer considered American. you are trying so hard to try to make this not about secession, but are completely failing.

You just said that the CSA wanted America to abandon its own territory. That isn't secession—that is called theft!

Most poor whites respected hard word and had no intention of forcing someone else to do theirs. They fought for freedom, and now you believe that they wanted to usurp the freedom of others.

They wanted to usurp the freedom of others. For example, in the years following the war, it wasn't wealthy aristocrats running around lynching blacks—it was the average, poor classes of southerners.

Repubs and rightys are able to convince themselves of what they want to believe. That is what made trump possible. Trump sold a scam to nearly half of the American voters. It is always the person who is conned that is the last one to realize it. How often people fight with relatives to try and get them from throwing money on scams. And they resent it, because they know that Nigerian scam will make them rich.Someday a few of you will realize what an incompetent scam artist trump is. Most of you will never admit what you have done.

Whereas you just play dumb? :rofl2:

Ironic. You do know that after Dirty Debbie and the DNC cheated Bernie and crowned the Hildebeast there was no other viable choice, don't you?

Democrats have always wanted to control blacks. Back then it was as slaves, today it is as voters.

For many saying it was "not over slavery" meant the war was not fought about whether to keep or end slavery.

further more - it is an argument that the larger lasting impact of that war was about much more then slavery. Every 5-4 decision we see come down from SCOTUS is a remnant of a war that turned a constitution into a bunch of contradictory words that can no longer be agreed on.

Slavery was not going to last much longer regardless, even if the South were allowed to break free. What else was settled was we do not actually believe in the Spirit of 1776 - that was propaganda to get a bunch of people to fight a war for transfer of power
