NFL Playoffs

Wow, both Florida teams were sent packing.

Anyone watching the Cowboys/49'ers right now? I think it's shaping up to be an excellent game!

Probably right, but I recommend returning to one platoon football, eliminates the mobile 390lb lineman along with faster than light defensive backs, plus, ain’t many offensive special players are going to put their bodies on the line defensively. Football is the only sport where the offense doesn’t play defense

I have a friend who has coached on all levels up to college and he thinks eliminating the helmets over time would do it, kids leaning the game earlier wouldn’t be taught, nor have the desire, to use the helmet as a weapon

Neither is happening, but would be interesting if they did

Rugby is the full-contact sport played without helmets. You don't hear about many head injuries in Rugby - you might be onto something. What you can't do in Rugby is just dive into someone. You have to tackle them with your arms extended.

Well, I know I’m in the minority on this site, but I’ll be rooting for the Cowboys tonight. I have no reason to expect them to win. They’re 0-7 vs Brady, playing like poo-poo and I really think Jerry Jones made some sort of a deal with the devil for the fun teams of the 90’s.

I’m glad the Giants won and am glad Philly has been as good as they’ve been. I’m a division rooter so when the Cowboys get beaten out I’ll be rooting for whoever is left out of the NFC East.

I really like Hurts, not just for his OU connection but because so many said he wasn’t an NFL quarterback. I like it when kids prove the naysayers wrong…which is why I find it hard not to root for Purdy. But San Francisco…ugh. Just no.

On the dark side (AFC) I’ll root for Jacksonville until they lose. I love watching Kansas City play but I like rooting for the underdog when I don’t have a dog in the fight. Looking forward to all of it.

The Giants got spanked last night.

He won't be 100% next week but he'll be out there
I don't know if you've ever had a sprained ankle, but it can be worse than a broken bone. I sprained mine once and was on crutches. He was on it last night because of all the adrenaline but when that the ankle finally swells and bruises, it's gonna smart like hell.

All true! But Mahomes will be out there! And won't be 100% ,which is what I already said.

SF just scored their first TD. It took them 'till the fourth quarter! And poor Maher.. missed another extra point! His 5th miss in the playoffs! At least he hasn't missed a FG.

I felt sorry for the kid. This was probably his last game in the NFL.

The NFC feels like the 90's again

The 49ers play in a soft division where they rack up wins, but don't actually play anyone to get there

The NFC East is by far the superior division.

My hunch is the clock strikes midnight on both Purdy and the Giants next week . The 49ers have not beaten a single team left in the playoffs - everyone is raving about the rookie QB, but he has played a very soft schedule. The Giants are smoke and mirrors - everyone wishes the Giants are who they get to play in the playoffs

In contrast, Dallas is 4-2 against the remaining playoff field - and I think would be favored against the Eagles. The Chiefs or Bills will crush whoever they face in the superbowl though

It wasn't really pretty but Purdy and the Niners got the job done. He's going to have to play better for them to beat the Eagles but he's shown he's capable. Bills are obviously out and Mahomes ankle throws a little wrench into the mix. You can make a compelling case why any of the four remaining teams could win the SB.

The Eagles earned the #1 seed this season and are rightfully favored but the 49ers have weapons on both sides of the ball and will come out playing physical so don't write them off.

I think the 49ers defense will keep them in the game. But eventually Jalen Hurts (Roll Tide!) will be too much for them.

Purdy is everything I thought. A good defense can easily keep him to few points

The Eagles couldn't of asked for an easier championship matchup IMO

This is the Niners third NFC Championship Game in the last four years. They aren't some upstart team coming out of nowhere. They play a very physical brand of football both on defense and especially on offense. And they've discovered a gem in Purdy who while not a Mahomes or Allen level talent has that 'it' factor about him and shows incredible poise and leadership on and off the field.

So it's interesting to hear the Niners thought of so lightly based on what they've accomplished. I hope the Eagles overlook them as well.

I don’t think many took them as “light,” especially over the last half of the year, usually seen them ranked behind the Eagles and Vikings in the NFC, but can’t say the NFC West was the toughest, nor their playoff opponents

But as a bipartisan fan, got to say beating Philly right now will be a task, like the Bengals, they looked as best as they had all year

Now, who do you think has the bigger payroll, USC or the 49ers? Florida just lost the ten million dollar high school kid, and he is from the west coast, so is USC now in the running?

I give Philly their due, they looked good against the Giants. Now the Giants aren't all that good a team but Philly handled their business. Props to them.

That QB is a Nor Cal kid, he's from the East Bay. I'd love to see him stay home and go to Cal but that will never happen (random fun fact, Cal has had more starting Super Bowl QB's than any other school). We already got the top QB recruit for next year, we aren't going after that kid. (Not a hard sell to get a young QB to play for Lincoln Riley).

Our N.I.L. game is week. We've lost several players to bigger bags. The University is being very conservative in how we handle N.I.L. (compared to schools like cough, Oregon and Miami, cough).
