Republican Senators are smart enough to know they need to stay with the power if they want to get reelected. If there is a perception that power and faith in Trump is slipping, they will not blindly stay in line behind Trump.

I think a lot of Republican Senators were never happy with Trump in the first place. He has taken the Republican party down a dark road. If they see an opportunity to abandon the corrosive hateful influence of Trump over the Republican party and steer it back toward stronger morals they may use their combined power to pull the plug on Trump.

Same as the rest of them. Claimed he has been critical of Trump (examples exist) and that he is 'looking out for the people.'

If that doesn't work and he gets voted out, then he can just become a super high-paid corporate lobbyist since he has all the contacts.

Then he will probably have even more power and money.

President of Financial Times was on TV this morning and said the Senate vote to impeach is getting grimmer and grimmer for Trump. Many Senators do not want their futures tied up with a crazy man and a thief who wants to be a dictator.

What they refuse to acknowledge is that Watergate started with an actual crime which Nixon tried to cover up. From day one Trump has been investigated in search of a crime.
Investigate every little aspect of my life under a microscope for the last 11 yrs. and you could probably find something that may resemble a crime. And I wouldn't cooperate in the least. Then I could be charged with obstruction of justice.

The other side of this is the corrupt process. If Trump needed to be investigated for crimes, the House should hand that over to the Justice Department. The House Democrats could also demand a Special Counsel as was done in the Russian Hoax if they felt Barr would be too political.

But because Democrats know that this is a HOAX intended for media consumption, they don't want to use the process that has always been used in impeachments, and instead, engage in these secretive hearings where the transcripts are kept away from the public eye and only those parts the Democrats want the public to see are LEAKED.

It is despicable what these ass clowns are doing and it is making a mockery of our institutions and elections.

This is why I've already made up my mind to vote for Trump no matter what my opinion of him is. I'm voting against fake media, I'm voting against dims attempting a soft coup to reverse an election (which is treason) and I'm voting for fairness.
Of course it doesn't help dims that they're all completely whacked out except for Tulsi.

And there is no court to go to about this. (Trump's favorite recourse to get his way.)

Trump is going to have articles against him for obstructing the House Impeachment Inquiry, in addition to Abuse of office and Violation of Oath of office, over the Ukraine Affair.
