The interesting thing about that last is that the baker had no idea what the gay couple wanted their cake to look like. He turned them down simply because they were gay, then spent a lot of time and effort making up justifications.

It didn't matter. The cake would obviously be celebrating gay marriage which was against his religious beliefs. I don't think anybody should have to create something stating beliefs they strongly oppose for any reason. They can still serve those people items that were not created to express the objectionable view.

The law can use the "reasonable man" test. If an average person would find the message objectionable--racist, obscene, demeaning and hateful toward any group, etc. That stuff is clearly protected speech, but it doesn't mean I can be legally coerced to express that view. We can require everyone be served without mandating people to make objectionable items. That should not be much of a problem because most places are gong to make the item without objection.

Yes, the "create" thing is ambiguous but that was included in the WA law that exempted artistic creativity. During oral arguments the Justices brought up the question of what constituted artistic creativity--the florist, caterer....Perhaps the law should be clarified.

I voted for Jill Stein because I read the Green Party platform and agreed with most of it.

I am bemused when people try to tell me that voting my conscience is wrong.

If anyone wants to tell me I am responsible for Trump, I will laugh audibly. People told me the same thing when in 2012, my refusal to vote for President Obama was significant they were flat out wrong. My write-in vote didn't matter at all.
