Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

The only people getting 'worked up' and 'angry' are those Obama followers who think he somehow deserves this award and are thus in a frenzy trying to figure out how to defend him. Which is funny considering Obama stated this morning that he too doesn't think he deserves this.

You should have heard how worked up Rush is today. I was just listening while taking my son out to lunch......

I didn't mention race, you ass biter!

I didn't say you did froggie, but you did mention hate... which is one of the two that tends to come up EVERY time someone criticizes Obama or his policies. It can never be that we disagree with the man... to some it always must be a result of hate or race.

He led this movement WHILE running for president and one of the accomplishments was getting elected on that bases. He was not nominated for accomplishments during those 9 days, it was for the movement he led that got him to be president.

Plenty of people have won this prize without ever having been president.
This is sad. Campaigning doesn't advance diplomacy. Even Barack himself recognizes that he doesn't deserve this, it's only the hacks and the partisanly blind that continue to try to come up with reasons for this. It is funny, and will entertain us for a long time to come. It becomes even funnier when people try to buttress it with the campaign as reason enough. I've nearly got tears coming out of my eyes I've been laughing so hard.

He hasn't stopped the wars and it pisses me off, but it use to be that we as a nation would be happy for international accolades laid on our leaders, now we sit and bicker over the most insignificant fucking things!

Fuck all of you that can't be happy for him over a stupid monetary reward! Whether he deserves it or not!

HaHa!

Well said!

CNN.com's headline even says it, "Unlike his predecessors, Obama was chosen not for substantive accomplishments, but for inspiring "hope" at the start of his term".

That's all people have said here froggie, including some on the left. To state that is not to hate Obama.

LOFL, just like there's real reverse racism that's worthy of being talked about. I hope Obama makes the kind of progress in the eyes of dems and independents that he has in the eyes of the world to help him get reelected.
This was great comedic entertainment for me because I thought I'd get a dozen hateraids posting, It may hit 1,000
THANKS WEAKLINGS

Once again, it doesn't need to continue in the same direction and no, pointing out two of them and saying it "always was" doesn't change that the prize has been turned into a partisan political tool rather than something anybody should be proud of receiving. This simply furthers the turn in that direction. From what used to be a prize given solely for advancing humanity in some way to nominations because it is political to do so.

Just looking at the nominees who lost to Obama makes me embarrassed for the committee who voted this way.
Maybe or maybe your biased. Maybe a very large part of the world detested the direction Bush and the Neocons led the most powerful nation in the world and Obama's winning the election and leading America away from Imperial unilaterlism is percieved as being a far greater acheivement then you are willing to give him credit for.

Just think, that if instead of playing partisan politics with 9-11 and using it as an excuse to increase US hegemony in oil producing Iraq what if Bush had taken the oppurtunity to defeat the Taliban and rebuild Afghanistans devastated infrastructure. If instead of focusing on killing Iraqi's Bush had built roads, schools, hospitals, public sanitation and water works, irrigation systems and so on, maybe he would now be a Nobel Laurette?

pfeeesh, proud you say..I'd say gagging is more fitting..
this Hugo Obama hero worshipping has gone into the twilight zone already...

They're going to have to create a new Presidential position for a blue collar worker to stand next to Obama and continually remind him that he is also mortal; similar to the Roman Emporers.

It is absolutely a FARCE. The man left the money to be awarding to people who ACCOMPLISHED great deeds in a variety of fields. It is a FARCE to award the Peace prize to someone who had been in office for 11 days when the nomination was made? For someone who has done nothing more than give speeches. To give an award for that is sad and goes against what the award was designed to do.

Are you going to ignore the fact that even President Obama said he didn't deserve it?
Fuck off

*sigh*

When the man himself knows he doesn't deserve it, and says so... Maybe your bias leads you to become an apologist.

Again, in time he may indeed deserve the prize but on the basis of just being elected? That's just sad partisan hacktacularly hilarious fun time for us. This will bring hours of entertainment.

In an unrelated note, Obama has just received the Boston Little League Player of the Year Award for showing that sports matter when he played some BBall during the campaign.

Again, HE did not. At the time of nomination for this award he had been President 9 days and had done nothing but campaign for office.

And again, far more deserving people were overlooked. It is only your party affiliation and natural tendency to be a sycophantic apologist that clouds your mind here. Step back and imagine if Bush had been nominated 9 days after he was inaugurated.

You're going to be villified, for such racist words.

Any of you guys on Facebook? Most of my friends on there are Democratic/Liberal and there is some definite celebration but like here I'm even seeing some who say they like/voted for Obama but what has he done to deserve it.

Obama is saying its a 'call to action'. Kind of reminds me of broke rappers who rap about being rich and get rich as a result. The Nobel Committee thinking if we give him this award it will give him something to live up to and may affect his thinking on future actions (positively in their opinion).
Maybe or maybe getting elected President against huge odds and rejecting Bush's cowboy imperialism is one hell of a lot more highly valued around the world the domestically or greatly the rest of the world feared Bush as a dangerous ideologue with a great deal of justification.

I don't believe he has done anything to deserve a Nobel .. or even anyone's "Best Citizen Award."

They gave him a PIECE of the prize for good speeches and best dressed.

Now when he actually does something for PEACE, they intend to give him the rest of the prize.
He took the Neocons out of power didn't he? I'd say that's a huge accomplishment where world peace is concerned as the neocons are some seriously dangerous ideologues, to state the obvious. The more I think about it the more the award seems justified.

He has to be embarrassed to a degree. He knows he hasn't done anything and he probably was hoping to win one down the road for something he is currently planning to do. This will tarnish that to a degree.

Winning the award now tarnishes the possability that he could have won it later?!???

Great logic

you know... that is probably the first point that has any sort of merit...
