Pat Toomey: Background Checks Died Because GOP Didn't Want To Help Obama

Well, either let people call into the NICS or, as I've also said before, put a stamp on your license/state ID. Also have one there too for automatic voter registration. Something like this:

I'm fine with that....

EDIT: What happens if someone with that type of ID gets convicted of....oh...say, Domestic Violence or is deemed mentally incompetent to have a gun?

there is no possible way it can be a loophole if 'private sales' were purposefully exempted from having to do background checks. It was discussed and debated before the law was signed and YOUR congress concluded that to reduce the number of FFL's out there, thus reducing the number of people having access to NICS, that PRIVATE sales would not be required to do background checks. That is NOT a loophole.

semantics. most "loopholes" are purposefully written into legislation. Doesn't make them NOT loopholes.

Same as DUI... You forfeit your license to judge at the time of conviction or deemed incompetant

And if obama, biden, shumer, reid, pelosi or fienstein told you Hoplophobes that turds were hot dogs, you boneheads would be regular customers at my turd stand.

The "gun show loophole" is a myth. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, I'm saying that it is not the scary monster you think it is. It is statistically irrelevant.

More right wing manufactured bullshit.

Gun Shows are the SECOND leading source of crime guns in the United States: statistics pulled from : "Following the Gun: Enforcing Federal Laws Against Firearms Traffickers," Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (June 2000)

1 "Felons were associated with selling or purchasing firearms in 46% of the gun show investigations.Firearms that were illegally diverted at or through gun shows were recovered in subsequent crimes including homicide and robbery, in more than a third of the gun show investigations." (p. 17)

2 "The access to anonymous sales and large numbers of secondhand firearms makes gun shows attractive to criminals." (p. 17)

3 "Gun shows were a major trafficking channel, involving the second highest number of trafficked guns per investigation." (p. xi)

Fuck you asshole....you know nothing about me.
And right back at you, you silver tongued devil. Now, could you please explain what possible good can come out of me carrying another card around in my wallet, not to mention having my name, address, phone number, date of birth, all in another government database?

So I can collect your guns. douchebag.

You guys are such idiots. You post on a public forum talking about guns and how you fear that gubmint's gonna take them from you....but what you don't get is that if they want your info.....it's all right here.

Hack into site, get members' IP addresses, cross reference IP address to ISP, court order ISP for your info.

Government doesn't want your guns... if they did, they could get them without you being registered.

I mean, if they were REALLY going after guns... why would they allow you to hide them away?

OK...keep telling yourself that. First off, I doubt it you probably just found a cartoon.

When I was in IT, I worked for a Company that was contracted to a Health Insurance Company. Because of(at the time) the new HIPPAA regulations, when we disposed of a computer, we had to format the hard drive with a program that wiped it three times and wrote random nonsense bits of information each time it formatted.

The FBI could still get the original information off the drive....and that's stuff that I know about.. what don't we know?

Well, 3 proxies at the moment. Of course if I feel the need, I can wipe the drives pretty quick. 600 watts of AC is a mighty good tool.

If you say so. That'll fry the circuit board...but the platters will be fine. I would suggest taking the drive apart and putting the platters in hydrochloric acid....but that still doesn't solve the IP address thing.

Face it.... no one wants our guns.

Don't be so sure.

But irrespective of that, even if what you say is 100% true TODAY, that doesn't mean it will be in the future. There are people out there that want to ban guns, and confiscate them. Some of them are on this very board. Do you REALLY think that such a position would NEVER make its way into the presidency or Congress?

Now you're promoting discrimination against the poor; because during the last voter ID disagrement, it was suggested that everyone should show an ID and the libtards said that this was akin to the jim crow laws.

ridiculous? that is what loopholes ARE They are pathways written into law that certain subgroups can circumvent. What, pray tell, is YOUR definition of a "loophole"?

loop·hole
n.
1. A way of escaping a difficulty, especially an omission or ambiguity in the wording of a contract or law that provides a means of evading compliance.

So what wording was omitted or is an ambiguity of the laws that has provided a means of evading compliance; because it seems to me that the law is being followed, exactly the way it was written?

Thank you for the LEFT wing bullshit from the bowels of janet reno's DOJ. Not to mention the data in that report is out of date.

Or....you're just paranoid. Do you think that SCOTUS would rule that Constitutional? C'mon....have a little faith in the document and the government the FF created. Of course, listening to right wing propaganda on a continual basis certainly doesn't help.

What was disagreed with was the cost and difficulty of acquiring voter ID, not the requirement. Big difference.
