I feel the same way. Bearing false witness against public figures based on rumor and innuendo, personal attacks on anonymous posters they'll never meet in real life, avid praise for a vile human being who violates every ethical precept they are supposed to follow, hatred, bigotry, and racism -- I can't think of a single religion who would claim them as members. Even Satanists have their standards.
I've been blessed to know (and be family with) some genuine Christ-like followers of that religion. They were nothing like the pretenders here and those who frequent other cyber venues and who post on news outlets' social media.
I don't think most ppl live up to their own standards & then others maybe don't have any, or so low they don't much matter..
Over the years on message boards & life I am sure we have all met many ppl wearing their ethnicity, religion, intellect, politics, education whatever on their sleeve, probably plenty of the time not rePing it all that well..
I, & I think most ppl believe these things come w/ responsibilities, & perhaps expectations..
Years ago I heard this pastor, although I can't remember if it was radio, a church whatever...
Anyway he was talking about bumper stickers (so it must have been a long time ago) & he was saying that if you have all these [I love Jesus] etc on your bumper don't do around flipping ppl off on the road, running stop signs etc....... He said I'll help you peel them off the car,
TODAY!!!! (essentially telling him/them that he was rePing the church, not just himself & not doing very well for either)..
Somewhere in there he mentioned another guy that was telling him how he was having a bad day, then got on the road & all these jerks kept honking @ him & how he had to tell them off etc...... The pastor asked him if he still had that bumper sticker on his car that said [Honk if you love Jesus]....
