If you are living in NYC, you really do not need a car. If you do want to take a car, you can use a taxi, or a car service.
It is difficult to find a place to takeoff and land a helicopter, so they are not particularly popular.
Almost everyone has "people" who will deliver pizza to them. They order a pizza, and "magically" it is delivered to them. In NYC, you can get just about anything else you wanted delivered to you. That has been spreading to the rest of America through services like Door Dash.

You make a supposition that when you charge at night the car is empty. Most EVs get 250 mils You do not use that every day. You are only topping it off. The car is programmed to stop when it is full charge. There is not an element of EVs that you do not get wrong. I got a real live honest to god super duper tax break when I bought one and so did my kid. The tax break is real. Perhaps you are not.The power company is giving me a break to get a level 2 charger. Taxicabs are relatively cheap in NYC, but cars are relatively expensive. Many people chose to live in NYC(or similar cities), because they do not want to own a car of their own.
