Red COVID

Hello ThatOwlWoman,

Today's mail brought an interesting -- and very sad -- newsletter from the NYT. A snippet:

"Since Delta began circulating widely in the U.S., Covid has exacted a horrific death toll on red America: In counties where Donald Trump received at least 70 percent of the vote, the virus has killed about 47 out of every 100,000 people since the end of June, according to Charles Gaba, a health care analyst. In counties where Trump won less than 32 percent of the vote, the number is about 10 out of 100,000."

Looks like 4 Republicans are dying for every Democrat.

You would think that would cause the remaining ones to question whether their treatment of the pandemic is a valid approach.

Logically, of course...

Being immune to facts leads to an early death

There is no such thing as natural immunity to COVID, and you're going to see that in the next 6 months as people die from second or third COVID infections.

There is some, for those who have already survived a bout, or the vaccines wouldn't work. Unfortunately coronaviruses tend to have unstable structures and mutate more easily and rapidly than influenza viruses, to compare the other virus most commonly mentioned by deniers. A case of the plague that you survived this year may or may not give you much immunity to the next variant. The same is true of the vaccines, hence boosters.

Natural immunity is far superior to your gene-splicing "vaccine" according to an Israeli study.

https://www.science.org/content/art...er-immunity-vaccine-vaccination-remains-vital

But Minty, you have to GET the virus in order to become immune. It's a crap shoot with far more ppl suffering mortality and morbidity (like long term damage) from the actual disease than the relatively miniscule number who have had an adverse vaccine reaction. Have YOU had it yet? Or the vax? Then you are a walking grocery store for COVID.

do you know what percentage of Floridians are vaxxed to make such a claim?

53,000 Floridians are dead from COVID. Those are the official numbers; the actual toll is likely to be much higher. But we'll go with what is reported. What does being vaxxed have to do with it? Oh that's right. LiG doesn't believe in vaccines, and apparently neither does the accursed governor of the state. Nope, let's just pretend nothing's going on and if something happens, here take this *experimental* monoclonal antibody therapy because you wouldn't want to contaminate yourself with a *non-experimental* vaccine. lol

The problem with the Reichwing is that when they "question," they never get the answers right, and sometimes use violence instead. See the #InsurrectionOfJan6. Can't you see them storming the CDC or the company where vaccines are made, and burning it to the ground?

non -responsive rant. inaccurate. DeSantis isn't against vaxxing
You are believing your own narrative ( otherwise know as delusional)

DeSantis urges public to get vaccinated: These shots are 'saving lives'

I think the actual toll is closer to 65,000. It's probably in the 70,000 range now.

Oh I believe in vaccines. I've had plenty of them. Just not this one. I'm not afraid enough to risk what down the road could be dire side effects. There is not enough data to make a truly informed decision.

Actually, no I can't.

Do you really want to talk about burning things to the ground? lol

Cuz you and I both know who does that.

There is a difference between ransacking papers in a desk and burning things to the ground, literally. But you knew that already.

Yes, there is but you have chosen to disregard it because the glorious orange shitgibbon (who got it himself!) said so. You guys want to give #TRE45ON the credit for its creation but you still think it's "poison." That's fine.

Right now the only immunity you have to COVID is non-existent. So your choices are to stay in your home hiding, go out and risk getting it, or get the vax. I don't care for hiding myself so I got the vax, and will get the booster when it's available.

The only person you're sticking it to is yourself.

The rest of us are happy to watch you choke to death on a ventilator.

you've already shown all you believe are dissidents. I multi-source where possible. I notice you do not dispute Vaxx hesitancy is a Russian thing

But the governors are doing the mandates lockdowns. etc. much like we do it here
https://theconversation.com/russias...ion-reluctant-to-take-domestic-vaccine-165925
Regional governments across Russia have launched several efforts to boost vaccinations, mostly to mixed results.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin has announced that the city will give away five cars every week to vaccinated residents. He also deployed a QR-code system to keep the unvaccinated from indoor restaurants and bars.

But the requirement was later canceled due to technical hiccups and noncompliance from business owners and customers alike.

Most regional governments have recently made vaccinations mandatory in the service, trade, health care and transportation industries, imposing harsh punishments on employers who fail to have at least 60% of workers vaccinated.

And popular tourist destinations such as Sochi, a beach resort city on the Black Sea, have also introduced travel restrictions. The city now requires travelers to prove their vaccination status or to arrive with a negative COVID-19 test.

Although the latest surge in infections has prompted an uptick in jabs, Russia still has a long way to go before life can return to normal. The Kremlin recently admitted it has failed to reach its target of vaccinating at least 60% of Russians by the autumn of 2021.
Widespread vaccine skepticism

Mounting evidence has confirmed the effectiveness of the two-shot Sputnik V vaccine.

Russia has the highest vaccine hesitancy rates in the world. A recent survey shows that 54% of Russians are unwilling to get vaccinated, a level of reluctance that has remained almost unchanged in the past year. Most vaccine detractors say they would refuse to get inoculated under any circumstances or until there are no proven side effects.

Vaccine hesitancy can be mitigated with real leadership. Something your party has yet to learn.

I do not have to frantically google English language websites to know what is going on in Russia, like you do.

I communicate with actual citizens living there.

Vladimir Putin's approach to managing the pandemic falls well short of most of his peers in Eastern Europe and Western Europe.

I'm not. I'd rather she -- and millions of other Trump cultists -- would join us and put an end to this fucking plague.
