Red COVID

Vaccine hesitancy can be mitigated with real leadership. Something your party has yet to learn.
ROFL.. tell that to blacks and hispanics here.

I do not have to frantically google English language websites to know what is going on in Russia, like you do.
multi-sourcing on not "frantic" - it's good research practice.
Relying solely on anecdotal from your friends and relatives, is poor practice

Vladimir Putin's approach to managing the pandemic falls well short of most of his peers in Eastern Europe and Western Europe.
lots of reason from mandatory vaxxing ( which just increases distrust of the vaxx) by employers / to holdovers from the USSR mandatory vaxxing hesitancy

if you want to drop your intellectual arrogance and learn something besides what your contacts in Russia say -these should be of interest:

Want to skip the vaccine in Russia? You could be suspended from work.

In research that predated the pandemic, Borozdina reveals how perceptions of a technocratic, heartless and incompetent government bureaucracy shape the attitudes of Russian parents towards the vaccination of their children.

WTF.

You don't do research, you just repeat Russian propaganda.

Like the propaganda about getting an unsolicited mail in ballot.

Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Serbia are outperforming the Russian Federation in getting their citizens innoculated.

Words and opinions do not trump math.

That is a reflection on Putin's leadership concerning the pandemic.

Russians are not anti-science mystics anymore than Serbians or Kazakhs are.

Russians have proved over and over they can be mobilized to meet an existential national emergency, and compared to America's bible belt they have a long and demostrated respectful for scientific achievement.

No...it's not borne about any of that shit.

It's borne from the constant lies you have been propagandizing on JPP and elsewhere.

Everything you post is propaganda designed to cause unrest in the US.

Fucking troll.

missing or ignoring the point as usual. or just your usual Putin bashing -whatever

Putin is vaxxed putin encourages vaxxing
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/30/world/europe/coronavirus-putin-russia-vaccine.html
Speaking at his annual televised call-in show, Mr. Putin spent the opening half-hour trying to convince Russians to get one of the country’s four domestically produced shots. It was the latest instance of a marked change in tone about the pandemic from Russian officials, who for months did little to push a vaccine-wary public to get immunized but are now starting to make vaccination mandatory for some groups.

“It’s dangerous, dangerous to your life,” Mr. Putin said of Covid-19. “The vaccine is not dangerous.”

so you have business mandates, and Putin getting and promoting vaxx, same thing Biden has done
Yet you applaud Biden and blame Putin.. Your bias is self contradictory

Hello ThatOwlWoman,

The problem with the Reichwing is that when they "question," they never get the answers right, and sometimes use violence instead. See the #InsurrectionOfJan6. Can't you see them storming the CDC or the company where vaccines are made, and burning it to the ground?

Sadly, it would not be a big surprise to see right wing extremists attack other parts of the federal government or institutions working on the response to the pandemic. Right wing extremists have taken a pro-COVID position, and appear to be actively trying to spread the disease.

Many feel that by letting the disease take it's course that we can achieve herd immunity sooner and then be done with the pandemic.

This is a very bad idea. We have never gotten even close to herd immunity but we have already overwhelmed hospitals in several regions.

The big problem with the right wing approach is that it results in needless deaths.

hmmm....1.5 deaths per 100,000......as I have said before, math is not my strong point......what's that come to as a percentage death rate?.....I know its higher than dying from a lightning strike, that's 0.33 per 100,000.......

As long as it isn't THEIR death -- or anyone they care about -- the death toll is just the "price of freedom." These are seriously sick people, even without the plague.

We've reached the 'Red Covid' phase of the pandemic

(CNN) In his victory speech after the 2020 election, Joe Biden said this: "I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide, but to unify. Who doesn't see red and blue states, but a United States."

Roughly nine months into his presidency, however, red states and blue states have widely diverged on what should be the least political of issues: Vaccination rates for Covid-19.

Dubbing it "Red Covid," The New York Times' David Leonhardt writes:

"The political divide over vaccinations is so large that almost every reliably blue state now has a higher vaccination rate than almost every reliably red state. ... Because the vaccines are so effective at preventing serious illness, Covid deaths are also showing a partisan pattern. Covid is still a national crisis, but the worst forms of it are increasingly concentrated in red America."

New data from Gallup provides stark numbers to back up Leonhardt's claim.

More than 9 in 10 self-identified Democrats (92%) report that they have had at least one dose of one of the three vaccines for Covid-19. That number among Republicans? Just 56%.

Hello ThatOwlWoman,

Well it's not just their death.

As the table in the OP indcates for every 4 Republicans dying of COVID, a Democrat dies as well.

If Republican ineptitude did not make the disease so prevalent, fewer Democrats would be dying.

Basically, we just have to love all Americans.

If we help save Republicans from themselves, then we save some Democrats too.

Personally, I just want to save Americans from needless death.

I don't care what their politics is. They are Americans? I naturally have something in common with them. I am an American too. I see them as part of my country, and I want to protect them.

I do too. Now that we have safe and effective vaccines, there is no reason that *anyone* regardless of political POV should be catching and spreading this lethal disease.
