shitty pizza papa jons blames nfl for shitty sales

Talk about culture shock! It's a beautiful state though. We briefly toyed with the idea of moving there when my husband retired, but decided on the UP instead. Alaska was also under consideration. We gave that up for cost and practicality reasons. What town did you live in?
I lived in a couple of places. Poultney was home to Green Mt. College. I also lived in Wallingford...just outside of Rutland.

It was funny. I worked with about 20 other people in a large shop. We did a lot of overtime, so we spent more time with each other than we did at home. Out in a bar soon after I was hired, and co worker knew that I was new to Vt.

He wanted to know what I thought about the area. It told him "Rutland is a nice little town". He informed me that it was the third largest city in Vt.

Hell...it was smaller than the town I grew up in.

My sister just moved from Rutland to South Carolina!

How long was she in Rutland? Damn...talk about a change of scenery!

30 years! Just like myself! She is loving it. She was a manager of a credit union, till they were bought out and then assumed another roll till she retired this June.

What's your favorite Pizza in Columbus? There are actually some really, really good ones;)
Enrico's here in Dublin has what I think is the best Pizza in the Columbus area. It's run by a family of Italian descendants who relocated here from NYC and make New York Style, Sicilian thin crust pizza. It's very good. Of the Chain Pizza's I think Donatos is the best. There's quite a few specialty places now with stone wood fired ovens that make pizza's and I haven't been disappointed at any of them though they are pricy.

It's all about the crust. In many grocery stores, you can buy refrigerated pizza dough.

Around here, many of the mom/pop stores will sell you dough if you want to make your own pizza at home.
It's not hard to make good pizza dough. You just have to handle the yeast correctly and take all the proper steps to proof and raise the dough before you roll it out. It may take a couple of tries to figure that out. I don't even buy a pizza stone. I bought an unglazed 1" tile from Home Depot and seasoned it, with olive oil, like you would a cast iron skillet. So you can have the best dough in the word and not get a good crust because you use a metal baking pan causing the crust to steam.

To make a good pizza I put the stone in the oven and preheat it at 250 for 5 minutes, 350 for 10 minutes than I up to 500 for 10 minutes (this prevents it from cracking). I'll roll a quarter of dough out to about 12" then put on a thin layer of marinara sauce (most people put way to much sauce on home pizzas), sprinkle with some parm add some fresh basil and sprinkle about 1 cup of shredded Mozzarella and some pepperoni. Bake 7 to 10 minutes till crust is crispy. Simple and better than 99% of chain store pizzas.

I was going to ask what she did for work. It was fairly limited when I was there, save for tourism on the hills. I worked in Danby, but I left in '82

We'll have to try Enrico's sometime...love the smaller family owned shops..
We're on the other side of town, and they are quite a few around this area we think are pretty good. If you're around the campus area try Hounddogs. But there are about 5 others that are pretty outstanding...
Rubinos is a classic in Bexley. Don't forget to try Mikey's Late Night,
Homemade is the best but we're lucky to have so many around just in case...
(If you're a foodie, and haven't checked it out before put the Mid-America Restaurant Expo on your calendar... (Jan 28th-29)... Used to be the North America Pizza and Ice Cream show...really expanded this year...
Michael Symon is the keynote speaker;)

Hell yea I'd like to check that out. Symon is a legend in Ohio Foodie circles. I've actually been to Rubino's. They are excellent IMHO as I prefer thin crust pizzas.....but I think Enrico's is better. It's definitely the hand tossed, fold it over, Sicilian style pizza NYC made famous.

Nice to know there's another Cowtown resident here in JPP.

Enrico's must be really really good then! Will have to put them to the test someday.
Do check the show out-it's always been great in the past and it's change names and almost doubled in size this year....http://napics.com/aws/MARX/pt/sp/home_page
Early bird tickets if you aren't in the industry:)
Nice to meet you as well...
GoBucks:)

Yeah, we also hike and kayak. No canoe though. If you got the right winter gear, you can play outside here just about 365 days/year.

Just added the surfing dude.

ThnX, I'll check it out........

I am kayaking tomorrow AM as there will be a break in our little storm, prob doing about 12-13 miles..

State of Bliss.......lol Calif..... South of Sacramento, on the edge of the SF bay delta...

Nice lil clip-looks pretty cold......

But not near any of the horrible fires, right? Weren't those farther north from you? That's such a beautiful part of the state.... lucky you!

When I got that clip of the surfer the air temp was 40F and the water temp in the 40s; the wind was from the NNE at 40 with gusts to 60. The only way I could film him was by hiding behind that NOAA building; otherwise I kept blowing away. lol You saw he was wearing a wetsuit; we have one guy who surfs year-round just wearing swim trunks.

They were pretty close, less than 100 miles...

Wow, balls of steal....lol

When I was a kid I could swim up in Vancouver BC almost all day, now I need a nice wet suit........ I actually use a dive suit, it is even warmer.:)

Guy in trunks must be crazy...

That's pretty damn tough! I like cold weather myself. Do garden/yardwork w/o a coat when it's in the 30s.... but that is a little too much!

100 miles is not very far. I guess they got the fires put out since the news doesn't mention them anymore? That was nightmarish.

Like your vid clip. Here, have this. lol

I don’t mind the cold, either but prefer it between 25- 40, the below zero temps I have always hated.
