Support the Fast Food Workers Strike!

Bullshit! There are college graduates with fucking skills not making 15 dollars an hour to start. There is NOTHING a floor employee does at McDonald's or Wendy's that deserves a starting wage of 15 dollars per MUTHAFUCKING HOUR! It is a low skill job. Low skill jobs get low skill wages. The legal assistant/receptionist at my office makes 17 an hour and has been here 4 years. When she started she could barely take messages and knew nothing about motions and orders. In that time she has busted her ass to learn and improve her skills. Now you bleeding hearts think some 16 year old should make 15 an hour TO START? Why not 25? or 35? Jeebus Maury and Joe.

The receptionist/legal assistant I spoke of is just 29 this year. She was pregnant and married when she was 15, had her 4th kid by 26. No HS diploma, started here as a temp with one of the agencies. Worked here under her agreement with them for $8.75/hour. After 6 months we offered her a full time position, raise to 10/hour. In the time she has been here she has worked her ass off. Still has no diploma, but can turn out some of the simpler motions and orders like nobodies business. She JUST started making 17/hr and you bleeding hearts think that a burger flipper deserves almost as much as someone that worked really fucking hard to get where she is now? Talk about living in a land of illusion.
 
I don't eat fast food, especially not from the big name places.

Sorry, my boycott was started for health reasons, not to protest minimum wage.

What do they pay tobacco workers? What does a person on a cigarette assembly line make?

The only fast food I eat is from Chick-Fillet ... And then only twice a year when I'm in KY.

I like it too but the closest one to where I live is about 60 miles. When we drive that far we tend to go ahead and eat at Red Lobster or Chili's ... Someplace the wife likes better.

Sounds like you're exploiting her and should give her a raise. I hope she finds a place that deserves her.
 
There are Public Defenders all over this nation, with fucking law degrees, defending the poorest, most over charged people on earth that don't start at 15/hour, but fuck sake lets pay the fry guy 15.

I'll do In 'N Out Burger if I'm out and about... If I'm not in a place that has one and I need to eat fast food then... well, whatever burger joint is on the same side of the street that I am. Don't want to do a left turn just for a burger...

It's called capitalism. They can ask for it. The franchises might refuse to pay them. And then they can negotiate.

But just don't claim it will raise the price of a burger "out of sight"

Well because #1. what someone else makes with another employer isn't relevant. #2. They work very hard and contribute substantially to the companies profits. #3. Those companies make substantial profits and #4. The free market is predicated on ALL people having the RIGHT to charge what the market will bear for their goods and services. Not just the special few. I say if they can negotiate that level of pay more power to them. Conversely if the market will only bear 5 bucks an hour. Then life's a bitch go learn marketable skill. what is wrong with that? Don't you believe the free market applies to every one?

She sounds like someone who could move pretty easily; could be she has other benefits to the job that we don't know about - flexible hours, close to home, whatever. But if she's as good as stated, I'm betting someone would snap her up if she started looking. She may just not realize it.

But having said that - I have no idea where the job is located or what salaries are doing there. Just the way Socr raved about her makes me think she's underpaid and overworked. Wonder if she gets overtime?
