Support the Fast Food Workers Strike!

just more evidence women are smarte then men.

Nah ... When I go to town I am always ready to get things done fast and get back home. Don't like town...all the people and traffic. Ugh. I'd rather eat someplace quick and leave but defer to the little lady. It's her life too that we share. so I suck it up and do it. To me it's a waste of time ... and money to take the time to go to some of these places.

absolutely it's a big if but why the double standard? Why should'nt they be able to charge what the market can bear?

They already do this. There is a ready supply of unskilled labor driving down the wages of unskilled labor. The market bears so little we already have laws to support the unskilled. The market is not on the side of the unskilled. I'm not sure why you want them to get what the market would bear when that would be much less than they get now due to minimum wage laws.

How would going on strike and demanding more pay be wise for someone with minimum skills? They are easily replaced.

Can you explain why think they have leverage?

Right! Not when you have things to do and all those sheep to tend to! ;)

Cause they do most of the productive work.

Are you so ignorant you don't realize once the minimum wage goes up, everyone whose wage is close to it will get a raise too?

LOL

yeah, because there's just a magic budget from which everyone will get a raise!

You have an incredibly simplistic notion of wages

This week fast food workers around the nation are striking to make notice of the horrible pay they receive.

Nobody can survive on $7.25 an hour and contrary to misguided belief of some idiots on here, the average age of the fast food worker is 29 and a half years. In other words, they're not just snot-nosed high schoolers anymore. They're increasingly single working moms, the elderly and displaced workers.

We need to increase the minimum wage. No, we don't need to increase it, we need to double it.

Here's an incredible fact:

If the salary of every McDonald's minimum wage employee - and the CEO - was doubled, yes doubled, the effect on the price of a Big Mac would be a whopping 68 cents.

I don't eat fast food crap but to know that by paying 68 cents more for a Big Mac would ensure a living wage for that single mom with kids or elderly woman off food stamps it would be worth it.

You say you don't eat the food these workers prepare, so what is your stake in this?

What about the poor who can't afford a 68 cent increase in the price?

No I don't. I simply believe in the free market.
No you don't, you believe in minimum wage laws which artificially inflate what the market will bear. If you were truly free market, you would say do away with the minimum wage laws and let the market do what it will. That's a position not even I will take. Minimum wage jobs are for unskilled workers, but that doesn't mean they should get sweat shop wages.

I have never been so glad for a 7.8% unemployment rate. Let them stay gone, fire their asses and hire someone at 9.50 per hour. Contract them, guarantee that they will get a raise at LEAST every 365 days they work there. Turn over is huge in fast food so you won't have to do that and eventually the 30k per year fast food employees will come back to work for a reasonable wage.
