In April, Kansas lawmakers approved their own antiabortion omnibus bill. The measure contains more than a dozen provisions to deny services to women seeking abortions, two of which are currently being held up in court.

The first is a troubling provision to redefine what constitutes a medical emergency so that pregnant women experiencing life-threatening complications — including hemorrhaging, infection and ruptured ectopic pregnancies – would be forced to wait at least 24 hours before obtaining an emergency abortion. After signing the legislation that would imperil the lives of pregnant women in medical emergencies, Republican Gov. Sam Brownback remarked: ”All human life is sacred. It’s beautiful. With this, we continue to build this culture of life in our state.”

In this particular case, I don't think we'll ever "get through" to each other because we fundamentally disagree on what abortion is. You consider it murder; I don't.

The rest all falls from that.

My major concern is protecting women's health by giving all women access to safe, legal, effective medical treatment for all things, whether it's abortion, pre-natal care, STD treatment, IVF treatments, tubal ligation, cancer, depression, etc etc etc.

I see abortion and contraception as just pieces of a woman's overall medical care; you don't.

I don't think I'll ever change your opinion; you will never change mine.

I'm saying all this so you'll understand why I'm not going to address your comments line by line. You have been perfectly polite; it's just it won't get us anywhere.

If a pregnancy results, their responsibility.
If they want the pill, buy it.
Abortion, pay for it.
In a case of rape, make the rapist pay for it.
I don't cause unwanted pregnancies, why should I be forced to pay to terminate them?
If my wife and I don't want a child, we use the birth control method we choose and pay for.
That is not a war on women.
If you want an abortion, go for it. Don't expect me to pay for it.
