That is because would-be workers have deemed it not worth their time. They can't make ends meet on dirt wages. Many want to blame Democrats for the situation, but that is not accurate. It is inconceivable that the economy could be shut down during a pandemic, that jobs are lost, businesses shuttered, and then on top of that, the oil supply is impacted by a war of Russian aggression, and any administration could bring us through that without any inflation.
Look at gas prices. Why are they high? More demand than supply. Who controls supply? Oil executives. They could order lots more drilling and pumping, try to meet the suddenly increased demand, but if they do that, the prices and their profits drop. They are not doing that. They would rather make big money and run fewer extraction operations. That's the problem with capitalism. Capitalism has no responsibility to keep gas prices low, no responsibility to serve the public. All capitalism does is make the holders of great capital richer. Greater wealth inequality.
Gas prices are high because oil executives are greedy. Changing that is not within the purview of a president.
Democrats are not to blame for the economy. The greedy super-rich are. They maneuver their holdings into a position to take advantage of every development affecting the economy so that they are always poised to profit as much as possible. They buy off the government. They fund propaganda mills designed to cause hatred and bitter polarization between the left and the right. Many fall prey to this. Look at all the animosity between conservatives and liberals. It's is absurd. We have so much in common. Our needs are strongly aligned. We want a thriving stable economy in which we can have our needs met and then some extra for pleasure and happiness.
We the people should be teamed up against the super-rich, but instead, the super-rich pit the left and right against one another so the super-rich always win in the end. Super-rich profits are soaring right now as every day American workers from both the left and the right are struggling to make ends meet.
The government only has so much control. The super-rich have great influence over what the government can do. Every time liberals want the government to do more for we the people, the super-rich get conservatives to quash it. Then the propaganda machine cranks up and blames Democrats. And conservatives swallow it all hook like and sinker every time.
People on the left and the right blame the other side when they should rightly blame the super-rich who pull all the strings.
We need to correctly identify the problem, coordinate our efforts, drop the animosity and team up against the super-rich.

We can join this effort and create change, or we can continue to blame the other side and things will never change. Anyone who thought things were good under Trump was wrong. Things may have been better than now, but it wasn't because of Trump. And they weren't really that good. Wealth inequality is too lopsided. The super-rich have most of the wealth of America, and everyone else is left to compete over the little tiny bit the super-rich don't control. No wonder tempers are flaring.
It's time to drop the BS and see the big picture.
