The green scene demeaned, right here on your screen

NEW YORK, Dec 26 (Reuters) -

New York state will fine fossil fuel companies a total of $75 billion over the next 25 years to pay for "damage caused to the climate" under a bill Governor Kathy Hochul signed into law on Thursday.

Fossils aren't used as fuel.
It is not possible to 'damage' climate.

The SOTNY has simply decreed that the Church of Global Warming is a state religion.

Is it? Perhaps you should inform any "numerically illiterates" you encounter of any errors you think they've committed.

OK, Cletus. It's called randomly picking a data point which may very well have a high residual and trying to draw a conclusion about that ONE SINGLE POINT.

That's not how data works, especially for noisy time-series data.

But I"ve already swamped your buffer and you have no clue what I'm talking about. Too bad. Maybe if you'd paid more attention in school you'd know better.

“It’s SCIENCE™.” "It's settled".

Sorry, (not sorry) Kooky Klimate Kultists, science is never settled.
This part is correct.
The "science" of “global warming theory” is, for the most part, supposedly sound ... in "studies" based on "models".
Climate is not a branch of science. There is no global warming theory in science. These believers in the Church of Global Warming routinely deny theories of science such as the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics and the Stefan-Boltzmann law.
The issue, of course, is that the portion of warming since 1850 ascribable to mankind has never been quantified with empirical data.
What warming???? It is not possible to measure the temperature of the Earth.
Natural vs anthropogenic forcing estimates are computed from model simulations, and have significant margins of error.
There is no 'force'. Carbon dioxide is not a force.
That being said, even IF all warming that has occurred since 1850 has been man-made, that does not mean that this is an existential threat to the planet or life on Earth.
What warming??? It is not possible to measure the temperature of the Earth.
These are not necessarily mutually exclusive events, and that is obvious to anyone who isn’t a one dimensional thinker.

The “science” of there being a “climate emergency” is about as grounded as the “science” behind astrology.
Science is not a "ground" or a proof of any kind.

So nazi bitch, if I understand, the fossil fuel companies have a market cap of over a trillion in NYC,
There are no fossil fuel companies. Fossils aren't used as fuel. Fossils don't burn.
so they would have to return that...
So you advocate theft. Gotit.
And give up all the money they make from selling fossil fuels in NY State. Yeah, that is a great deal.
Zero dollars. That's a great deal??

Is that right?

Why does the Kooky Klimate Kult seem increasingly amusing to me?

I've observed that wherever it's taken hold, its been a political disaster.

That is a huge market you are demanding that oil companies give up. One that they will not give up.
Oil companies won't leave the SOTNY. They'll just raise the rates to cover the 'tax'.
But you are forgetting that commerce also involves investment, so the oil companies would also have to swear off the stock and bond markets. They could setup a new stock and bond markets completely outside of New York, but that would require time, and be far less efficient. It would require them to give up over a trillion dollars.
Oil is a commodity, Wally. It's not a stock or bond.
Sorry nazi bitch, but life is not that simple.
Buzzword fallacy. Cliche fallacy.

Think so?

Yes. No one thinks of fossil fuels as "fossils" per se. It's a common parlance term to indicate it comes from geologic processes and represents older life.

Into the Night is a simp who can't actually engage with a technical topic. Not unlike you. Kind of dim bulb who fancies themselves quite bright.

They do.

There are (at least) dozens of oil companies with some form of presence or office in New York.

However, the exact number could be higher, considering smaller or less publicized operations might not be included in these lists.

Thus, a conservative estimate based on the available data would be that there are at least several dozen oil companies with offices in New York.

@Grok
What data????
