Effectively, you are. When you prioritize a pipe dream like banning guns over mental healthcare, you are ensuring that nothing will be done about mental healthcare.

Worse, IMO, is stripping innocent Americans of their rights out of your personal fears.

you have no idea what you're talking about. except for freedom based on reason. reason is what the founders used to craft their idea of freedom. In doing so, they crafted a limited government and the idea that a majority can not deny a minority their rights.

what's 'abstract' about freedom to you?

No, it's YOUR logic. This country is being destroyed by hyper individualism. The failure of members of a society to sacrifice for the good of the society. And sacrificing a gun is not what I'd call an enormous burden. It's done in almost every civilized society in the world. Somehow they get by, and way fewer of them die by the gun. I consider that a win.

I am more than happy to compromise, but every time that happens, we get kicked in the nuts. My good humor is gone. I'm not alone. The ballot box is going to prove me right. I'll wait.

Invoking my family isn't a winning tactic. I get it that it works on the less sophisticated, but it doesn't work on me. Calling me a pussy probably won't be a winning tactic either, but maybe it makes you feel better. Suit yourself.

Soooo....your solution to "Hyper Individualism" is Hyper Authoritarianism? I disagree.

Again, better mental healthcare is the solution to these problems. With such a system in place, individual problems can be caught before they become social problems. Legislation can be more easily passed to help those in need.

you seriously underestimate the resistance you'll face, or that your children and grandchildren will face. the ballot box will be irrelevant when your wish to 'compromise' becomes your demand to submit.
