I lived in Queens, Long Island City/Astoria & had a girl friend in the Bronx, above Fordham road, so it was a long adventure of 3+ hours on the subway..

I would be on the train @ night looking out @ the dark emptiness there, occasionally seeing a dim light (fire I guess) in the distance, in an abandoned building..

It was such a contrast to the mass of ppl & buildings, light & noise everywhere else in the city.......

I recall Carter's request, I think it was like 4 billion or so..

That’s kind of the ultimate f*ck you I’ve got mine attitude one can hold. And it’s not about dictating what you can do with your property it’s you dictating what others can do with theirs (as in you can prevent someone else from developing their property.

Use me as an example. I own a condo in SF. Should I be able to determine if others can build on land they own as a result?

So are you going to tell me if your neighbor next door wants to sell their property for a group home of homeless folks you are going to be supportive of that??

We’re kind of talking two different things here. Cities are forever dynamic places. Some are growing and some are shrinking but just saying “I think there are enough people here already and therefore we should stop all development and essentially allow no new people (above existing population)” is a long term recipe for disaster for multiple reasons.

Every City has zoning restrictions and land use laws so yes, there are restrictions everywhere in that sense.

Since I moved back to Calif this has been the norm in many communities in Northern Calif.. San Ramon, Dublin, Alamo, Davis etc etc etc :blah:

I think it is a natural evolution of thought/feelings for ppl to want things to remain~ I just moved here, so now it's time for the growth to stop!!! That is how I felt way back when my town was 20,000 ppl~Now we are 180,000 & will top 200,000 by the end of the year easy..

Unlike you most ppl don't think long term, prob not even till the end of their mortgage so what happens after they're gone is of no concern..

I am sure the Babylonians had urban planning issues, it goes w/ the territory of competing interests..:dunno:

Ppl are moving out of the city, prices are going down a bit, that should help ease the squeeze....... Although I would not think much..
 
The reality is that I've been a conservative activist since 1980 and never even heard of the Alt-Right until 2016.

The young people moving to the big cities I don't think are so much about affluent as they are about educated. Boeing Amazon companies like that don't need dumbasses from flyover. There is however something of a movement back into fly over by retired people and by big tech companies looking for cheaper places to work

You know what comes back? Nothing.

The only results I got back had to do with keyboard instructions.

a. Americans ... the people that live down the street from us and have families of their own.
b. Some Guy from Bangladesh ... he's poor, can't find America on a map, but importing him makes me feel 'good & righteous'.
