My first car was a Corvair, fun to drive, but didn't have Park on the shifter, and if you put on the emergency brake it would freeze in the winter. So I carried a brick to keep it from rolling.
The other thing, was it had one long skinny belt that constantly fell off,to long to get it to stay tight.
But it was a great first car.

It was a stick shift lol.

Isn't that the car made famous by Ralph Nader's "Unsafe At Any Speed?"

Incorrect. It was prone to skid out of control in turns due to all the weight being in the rear. Nader called it unsafe at any speed.

Didn't they complain of no bar connecting the two sides of the suspension.Something about one wheel dropping into a pot hole or something.
I last read Naders book 55 years ago,my memory is fuzzy.

But it didn't skid out of control in turns; because I used to drive mine like I stole it and never spun out.

The Government ran safety tests and showed that Nader was full of shit.

I didn't read the book. The movies are hardly ever as good as the book but we can hope...
Check out the books sometime....great author...for big and littles:)

Meet Enzo the puppy, one very special mutt. Enzo knows he's different from other dogs. He's sure of it. But people never understand him when he barks, and it drives him crazy!

Life on the farm is pretty quiet—except when he races the cars that come down the barn road. Because Enzo is fast!

But when Enzo meets a little girl named Zoë and her father, Denny, everything changes. Enzo embarks on an action-packed adventure as he makes the long journey from the farm to the city (bark twice for faster!), discovers just how big the world is, and finds the family that was truly meant to be his.

New York Times bestselling author of The Art of Racing in the Rain Garth Stein tells this heartwarming story of how Enzo comes home.

There are exceptions to every rule. Plus Americans were not used to rear engine cars in the early 60's. I didn't say the car was unsafe hell I had one also but skidding was what Nader pushed in his unsafe at any speed crap.

The VW Beetle was rear engine too,but didn't take a hit from Nader.

I honestly don't remember I'm quoting from memory also and the skidding problem sticks in my memory. You could be right not having a stabilizer bar may have been the problem.

I was reading the sales figures,Nader certainly destroyed the market for the Corvair.

I knew of the book, I just never read it. I'm afraid to now because I don't want to know the ending of the movie! I sure hope it's not tragic.

Enzo is such a cool name for a dog. I actually considered that name for my dog.
