The Trinity

Yup, many atheists are former believers and they spent a lot of time working to understand the faith. Before I became an atheist I had spent 30+ years as a believer. My "path" to atheism was very detailed and took years of learning and reading and trying to understand.

For some believers they have a pretty limited grasp of their beliefs...they don't think too deeply about them and willfully ignore the difficult points. So atheists who know about the faith are the most terrifying.

And I can't really blame them. It's a perfectly human behavior to avoid those things which fundamentally mess with your view of how the entire universe operates. And in the case of religion, threats to that are threats to their immortal soul. OF COURSE they would hope that atheists don't understand.
Exactly the case. It’s a matter of indoctrination and blind acceptance. Faith versus knowledge.

then why do you never post correct information.......shove a little lightening up your silly storm god's ass......
That little storm god was Yahweh. Your god of the OT. Even had a wife that he stole from his dad. That is, until it became inconvenient for the “creator” god to have a consort. Then, she conveniently disappeared.

Good thing for evolution. Otherwise, your current god would never exist.

no.....YHWH was always YHWH.....ever since he created everything......my God's dick is bigger than your thunder storm's dick.....

Yahweh never created anything. He was merely one of 70 children of El. Assigned to Israel as a storm god and/or god of war. Nothing special. That is, until David kicked ass and took over Jerusalem. Only then did the war god have some significance. When that war god got his ass kicked by the Babylonians, the Israelites had to rethink how the fuck they lost. Only then did they start making up other myths to justify their god.

Evolution is fact!

you are free to believe anything you like.......unfortunately for your argument, the fact you believe stupid things doesn't make them real for the rest of us.........

Those are the facts whether you want to believe them or not. The Israelites never became Jews until the reality of the Babylonian exile forced them to rethink their god of war bullshit.

I can always use you as an example of just how stupid an atheist can be.....

This should be a good one for the Bible literalists to explain.

What is this Trinity thing? Is it polytheism or not? When did the NT authors come up with that concept and why? Wasn’t just a single god sufficient? What’s the need for three? Can’t one god handle all its responsibilities?

There are quite a few bizarre concepts in the Bible, but this one is near the top. May be number one!
Go read the Bible to answer your question.

The Trinity appears to come from First Epistle of John 5:7-8 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one."

To my understanding this is the biblical support for the Trinity concept.
Not correct. Go read the Bible.

gosh how enlightening........there were idol worshippers in the Middle East......I wonder why the Bible never mentions that........(has anyone ever mentioned how stupid you atheists are?).......
Yahweh and his Asherah. So God had a wife? I don't recall that from the OT. Unless Yahweh somehow CHANGED over time. Hmmmmmm.
