Time To Dump The Second Amendment?

Data shows that there's less than 20k gun deaths TOTAL in the US each year.

The only reason it's even news is because it is so highly politicized. The actual number of deaths is basically meaningless.

The seasonal flu is as deadly or up to 5x as deadly in any given year.

Idiotic comparison.

The gun controversy doesn't seem to have any good guys.

Most of the pro-gun people are incredibly stupid crackers,
and most of the anti-gun people are effete and unknowledgeable on the subject.

The people with a sensible approach are far too few in number to prevail,
so we'll have a fucked up situation, one way or another.
There's no avoiding it.

Hello Flash,

It is terrible policy to seek equality by taking money away from others or giving it to others. There are hundreds of programs/schools to train people for higher paying jobs. We can't force them to attend.

It is vital policy and more of it needs to be done. Poverty is not the fault of the poor. People born into poverty often lack the self-confidence to lift themselves up, but if they are helped they can break the cycle. The right is doing the exact wrong things to combat poverty by simply blaming the poor.

The right wants to prevent birth control and criminalize abortion. Most births occur among the poorest humans. These policies favored by the right produce entire new generations of impoverished people.

The right is wrong on abortion, wrong on birth control, wrong on poverty and wrong on gun safety.

The 2nd is outdated but the right clings to it.

A great argument has no comeback.

And that is exactly what I get when I point out the well regulated militias are not necessary to the security of a free state. We have our standing army for that. When the Constitution was written a bunch of guys with muskets could gather to defend the country. That no longer works. The 2nd is outdated, and nobody has a good comeback as to why it should be kept. That makes it a great argument to call for the 2nd to be repealed and replaced.

Hello Flash,

Bipartisan committees usually protect incumbents. Nobody can create the type of representation desired without gerrymandering. If the committee agrees to the number of Democrats and Republicans and blacks, whites, etc. the state should have, they have to gerrymander to achieve those goals.

Then that is the only reason any gerrymandering should be done.

you better clutch your pearls, beatrice.

The fucking idiocy of the founders is most clearly illustrated in the wording of the Second Amendment.

First of all, the fuckwits should never have even mentioned the word "militia."

We have professional armed services. The last thing we need, or should even allow, are "militias."

That wording leads the troglodytes to believe that they have a right to overthrow a rightfully elected government of the people.
We now have elections, so revolutions aren't necessary. Seditionists and traitors are not patriots. They're perpetrator of capital crimes.

What they should have written is that private ownership of firearms is a right that comes with being an America resident, citizen or otherwise, in good standing.
Then we could eliminate private ownership of para-military weapons by statue because private ownership of appropriate firearms is still being allowed as specified by the constitution, which didn't say "any and all weapons.".

When you let a bunch of effete squires in knee highs and wigs write the constitution instead of the most qualified professional lawyers available,
those are the kind of fucking mistakes that get made. Our Constitution is the most revered piece of garbage in existence.
Even if Jesus himself wrote it, he was a fucking carpenter / social activist, not a top-level lawyer.

Hello Flash,

Fox News did not determine the Georgia voter turnout. There was a large increase among Democratic primary voters.

Do you have any evidence that more would have voted without those laws? People make these claims but I have yet to see any evidence that voter IDs suppress voting, tougher voting laws suppress votes, voter IDs stop fraud, or that voter fraud existed in 2012, 2016, or 2020.

Trump claimed voter fraud in the Georgia Republican gubernatorial primary because his endorsed candidate lost. His proof? "Nobody get 74% of the vote."

You want me to provide evidence that something would have happened if a condition exists?

Ok, but you won't like it. It's a hypothetical.

A black individual is considering voting. The individual observes that the lines in the individual's district are very long and arduous. The individual decides not to vote. Apathy exists.

There is no good reason to collect drop boxes which were already there. There is no good reason to order fewer voting machines and cut back on the number of polling locations for black people. Those things are done to suppress voting.

Observing that more people came out in a recent election proves nothing. It remains unknown how many would have come out if voting had been made easier.

We want more people voting to make our country work. America needs to be more cohesive. When people vote, they feel like they are a part of things, they claim part ownership of America. Suppressing votes hurts America. Republicans should be ashamed. That is trying to make elections unfair. Republicans should be able to win by having a better message, better policies. By assuming they will lose unless they pull dirty election tricks, they are conceding that their platform is not a winner and they have to try to cheat to win.

Cheaters cheat themselves of their own dignity as they cheat others.

and the reason to get zuckerburg to spend 400 million on cheating is to cheat.

The same legislation that formed the national military should have banned the militias.
Now, they're all drooling nitwit crackers with powerful weapons

Ya like that, huh, Buck?

We got some of probably every kinda gun you can think of 'round heanh.

Oops, not no frufru Weatherbys, though.

will you be my red headed step child?

You exist because we only access each other on the internet...for the short periods of time when I don't have you on my ignore list.

If we were in proximity, you wouldn't want any interaction with me unless you're even dumber than I think you are,
which would be very hard to be. Snipe away, AssHat. You're less than a mosquito. And once in a great while, you're even amusing in a near-pathetic way.
