No "gotcha" moment. It is one of the issues in the Alito draft that overturns Roe. He specifically says the other rights (other than Roe) protected under the right to privacy are not affected by this decision. Those include parental rights about the school they will attend, consensual adult sexual activity, forced medical procedures, access to contraceptives, interracial marriage, freedom of family members to live together, etc.
Some claim our only rights are those specifically enumerated in the Constitution and others say the due process clause gives us certain liberties not expressly listed. This second interpretation gives residents more liberty from government regulation. You must side with the first group that says the only constitutional rights are those listed.

If nothing is done and the slaughters of innocents continue the American public will increasingly favor repealing the 2nd. I am not in favor of this but if it comes to that or nothing I would be.
And I am not alone. There are a lot of people who have had it and would favor taking away all of the guns.

Similarly, since voter participation increased, it is not evidence that participation would not have been higher if it were less arduous to vote.

Very interesting! We truly do have a self-government. Mostly it appears hidden, but every once in a while it is revealed.
The possibility of a new Amendment repealing the 2nd is currently non-existent. It would require either 2/3 of the House and 2/3 of the Senate to approve of it, or 2/3 of the States to call for a Convention to do it, neither of which is likely as long as so many Republicans are so subservient to the NRA.
It certainly has nowhere near the chance of the 27th.
The fact that it is not currently possible does not prevent people from circulating the idea, which could lead to a different political climate in the future, one in which repeal of the 2nd would be possible.
We could vote Republicans out, change the political climate, and make it possible.

Notice this at the bottom which is the same priority the Democratic party puts on mental health care: Would you vote for or against a law that would -- Increase government spending for mental health programs for young people?
