Trump is RIGHT about Regaining the Panama Canal

Perhaps ... perhaps something could be accomplished short of a full-scale occupation. Say, did you read The Art of the Deal?

Roll, Tide!

I doubt very seriously that Panama would surrender control/ownership of the canal unless forced to do so.

And given that the Panama Canal is within their sovereign nation, they should not.

Who knows? Unless you're prepared to advise President José Raúl Mulino, I don't see how he can benefit from your views on the issue.

I would not expect him to do so. Just like I do not expect him to benefit from your view.

But that does not change what I said.

He does speak English, you know. If you change your mind.

He earned a master's degree in maritime law from Tulane. His posts on 𝕏 have shown a fluent capability in English during interviews, too.

I'm not sure he is familiar with the meat-and-three, but there is doubtless much you could learn from one another.

You really do enjoy trolling threads and getting off topic, don't you?

I'm surprised at you. Isn't the topic a discussion about the Panama Canal issue currently in the news?

What do you suppose we've been talking about?

I have no problem discussing the Panama Canal.

Tell you what, I'll make it easy for you. I'll reply to posts that are on topic. The rest? Not my problem.

I think he is serious.

I wonder. He wouldn't be much of a negotiator if he tipped his hand, would he?

President Trump said this regarding the Panama Canal recently:

"We’re being ripped off at the Panama Canal like we’re being ripped off everywhere else. If the principles, both moral and legal, of this magnanimous gesture of giving are not followed, then we will demand that the Panama Canal be returned to the United States of America, in full, quickly and without question. It was not given for the benefit of others, but merely as a token of cooperation with us and Panama. We will never, never let it fall into the wrong hands."

I presume he is referring to Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison Holdings in the last statement.

Roll, Tide!

Absolutely.

And if we did try to take the canal by military force, we would likely face serious opposition from the rest of the world.
A bunch of people on my grapevine claim that the children of Washington could not do strategy to save their lives.

Which has something to do with why we keep losing....their general ignorance also factors in.

The Panama Canal is considered a VITAL National Asset for the United States, due to its critical role to America's Economy and National Security. A secure Panama Canal is crucial for U.S. Commerce, and rapid deployment of the Navy, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and drastically cuts shipping times to the U.S. ports. The United States is the Number One user of the Canal, with over 70 percent of all transits heading to, or from, U.S. ports.

The Panama Canal opened for business 110 years ago, and was built at HUGE cost to the United States in lives and treasure--38,000 American men died from infected ,mosquitoes in the jungles during construction. Teddy Roosevelt was president of the U.S. at the time of its building, and understood the strength of Naval power and trade.

Jimmy Carter foolishly gave it away, for one Dollar, during his term in Office (similar to biden selling Trump's wall pieces for pennies on the dollar).
Carter giving the Canal away was for Panama to manage, not China, or anyone else. It was likewise not given to Panama to charge the U.S., its Navy, and corporations, doing business with our Country, exorbitant prices and rates of passage. Our Navy and Commerce have been treated in a very unfair and injudicious way. The fees being charged by Panama are ridiculous, especially knowing the extraordinary generosity that has been bestowed to Panama by the U.S. This "Rip-Off" of our country will immediately stop by the Trump administration.

This democrat (Jimmy Carter) inflicted "RIP-OFF" of our country will immediately stop by Trump's upcoming administration.

This "RIP-OFF" kind of reminds me of how our NATO allies have been ripping off the U.S. by not paying their fair share while we help them defend their own borders in Europe. But again, Trump will make NATO pay its fair share, just like they did under Trump #45.
Another REALLY stupid idea by Trump.
