For all the corruption that take place in government, and it does create serious problems, it doesn't create the smallest fraction of problems that bad policy creates.
One wonders if they flaunt the corruption to keep our minds off policy. It seems to be working for them.

It does in a society that has allowed itself to be dumbed down.

1/6, IMO, was partly due to a few generations without the draft or a replacement program to encourage Americans to learn about their own nation and develop a loyalty to it.

The 1980s were the "Me Decade", a generation that thought "Greed is good". 1/6 was an example of greed becoming violent.
