Universal Healthcare Voted Into Law!

so based upon this, national healthcare would make medical expenses even more expensive........how is that better?

Depends on how they do it. Medicare is not at all efficient. Competitive bidding to buy their products and supplies would save billions.

Providing a service in return for government pay. How is border patrol, teacher, or doctor not equivalent in providing that service?

one CHOOSES to go in to law enforcement, or become a teacher........but DOCTORS are not currently working for the government. It's a PRIVATE occupation, unless you're HIRED by the government and CHOOSE to work for it. What is being offered here with national healthcare regulated entirely by government is removing said doctors from private sector and forcing them to become public servants at reduced compensation....i.e. slaves.

in my 56 years on this Earth, the only thing i've ever seen government be efficient about is causing death on all scales

then i'll tell you the same thing I told owlwoman............good luck with it. your anecdotal pleasant experience with it doesn't take away the nightmare it is for others.

I have experienced zero problems, zero issues with Medicare. I can see any doctor any specialist I want without prior authorization, anywhere in there country. If a physician says I need a test or procedure then its done, no complications. I surely dont need to wait for an insurance company to approve any procedure that my doctor says that I need.

i'm not inclined to believe you about this........

f you are on Medicare your reply js pure bullshit.

Nope. Just had to make an extra trip (200 miles roundtrip) this week to see the Nurse Practitioner (for 10 minutes) before getting the medical procedure after just seeing the doctor who recommended it. They said it is a Medicare requirement.

The doctor who does my arthritis knee injection wanted to move up from steroids to use "rooster juice" (hyaluronic acid) had to get approval first from Medicare.

Thats because you know shit about the Medicare system.

I'm inclined to believe that YOU don't know shit about the system...........but then again, you wouldn't be any different than any other partisan jackass who thinks that government programs work wonderfully when administered by your favored party as compared to your hated party.............I, however, view it bad no matter the party. As I stated before, the ONLY efficient program that governments run is administering death on any scale

Doctors are not forced to take Medicare or Medicaid. Many will not accept new patients on those plans.

"MACPAC found that only 71% of providers accept Medicaid. That’s compared to 85% who take Medicare and 90% that accept private insurance.

I have Medicare Advantage and pay nothing except prescription co-pay. I can get procedures done quickly, until you start with expensive procedures like back operations. Those require prior approval from Medicare or the insurance company including physical therapy and related procedures. I have not had problems getting approval, but it involves a lot of waiting and extra trips and expenses.

The point is that nobody is going to set up a system and let the doctors do whatever procedures they want without some supervision or approval.

NOW, but what happens when national health care as a right is mandated??????

Yep, supplemental plans run by private insurers make up the difference between what Medicare covers and what it doesn't. Judging by the annual bombardment of advertising, emails, and snail mail solicitations we get every year, there is big BIG money in providing these supplemental plans. So if we did adopt a national Medicare-for-all kind of insurance coverage, private insurance firms would not go out of business.

if there is big money they must make by being cheaper than Medicare provides, as I pay $18 a month which covers all my prescription drugs, my $10 a month health care membership and $10 a month over the counter health supplies

I used to travel extensively throughout Canada on business. They like the fact that they don't pay for what they get, but they wish what they got was a lot better, and definitely more timely. If it's not life threatening, you wait...

*coughsbullshitcoughs*
