US 'no longer technology king'

Oh I am a bit bitter Darla on ex wives, and forced church attrendance when I was young. But mostly you are right pretty laid back, I think my failure to rise to the bait from the neocons causes them some strife ;)
Life is good for me now. No money, wife, etc problems, just smooth sailing.

"Yeah those college degrees don't count for grammer or spelling I guess....
Just business...."

Um....you mean "grammar" not "grammer" :D

I think he was referring to me, not to himself. I'm the one with the English degree. But I do make spelling errors too. (note the correct usage of "too" top lol) All the time! I wasn't talking about mistakes. You'll see, Top is going to be putting this to good use, and though he'll never admit it, his emails are going to improve.

Yep, no degree here :D

I don't even want to talk about grammar anymore. I'm starting to get nervous it will draw Trog in. I once saw Trog do about 30-40 posts back and forth, with this complete maniac, about grammar. He had stuff I had either forgotten, or never knew.

He could cream me. lol

Well on this particular issue I think US is indeed wrong. Top is over the top a bit as there are foreign companies that can rival the ones he mentioned, but in general he is correct.... overall the US is still by far the most dominant country. You would have to take the remainder of the top ten COMBINED to equal that of the USA. He is also correct in saying that globalization has created a more competitive environment, so while we still lead, we cannot become complacent or we will be passed over. A more competitive environment is a plus for the world as a whole.

Darla, I enjoy causing spinner to show his butt.

Super, my main thing is that globalization and world competition will reduce the standard of living in the USA. the rest of the world's will rise and ours will drop. It is inevitable. The only question is how far ours will drop.
remember we are a nation living on a BIG "credit card", unlike many nations in the world.

I've seen enough of his butt, thank you!

USC sounds like a closet homo
he did get it half right like i've been saying the uneducted will have the standard of living go down.
The college educated will continue to see a rise in standard of living as they have for quit some time now.

You know Top,. I was reading some stuff on FP (sorry Damo, but nothing happend, I was just looking), and I came across a thread bashing women who work outside of the home, and bashing feminism in general, and you were very impressive on that thread.

It's just that you're a turbo-capitalist who can't seem to stop measuring wallets.

But, everyone can't be perfect, like me. I wouldn't be special then, now would I?

Ahh more butt from spin. sorry Darla.

Darla, people have a tendancey to expect me to be a con cause my main thing is economics and investing.
Outside those two I'm way left of most people.
Grew up with Mom and two sisters.
That little be gave me a huge leap over the average bubba in being in tune with femenist issue's.
Best things in my life have always been because of woman, not appropriate to bring it up here though.
I'm jazzed at the posibility of the first female pres.
I think woman's salaries will close in on mens as a result, which is a good thing.:clink:

US... to some, yes, they will need to be retrained. Which goes back to what top already told you. The post-high school educated should continue to succeed. The high-school degree is not going to cut it going forward. So for those we need to emphasize the need to continue their educations and we need to try to make that education more affordable. We also need to get our public education system upgraded... because it is letting far too many slip through the cracks.

Super what jobs will the higher educated do ? Who will grow and process their food, haul their garbage, serve them in restaurants, build their homes ? People with degrees ?
You are partially correct, but too simplistic in your view I think.

Right uscitizen, there always has to be someone to do those jobs you speak of. Everyone can't be a professional programmer or whatever, can they? That'd flood the market.

if you understood economics and the big picture you'd know that each year the economy creates more degreed jobs.
Your buddies the illegal allians are going to do the planting and building, but we'll have more architechs and agrig businessman, stock brokers, bankers, business owners.
The gap will widen, but more will be in the have's as each year a higher % gradiate like Jethro.:pke:

I will clarify then. The vast majority of jobs in the US will require a minimum of votech education. The TREND will be fewer jobs for high school grads and more jobs for people with additional education.
