I think Trump's got a good chance of beating Biden. He seems rather senile at this point.
However, I do wonder if Biden will actually be the candidate. He's won enough votes in the primaries, but given his decline over the last few months, he may have to concede the candidacy to someone else in his party. I don't think the DNC would allow Sanders to be that person, so it's interesting to think about who it actually might be.

I'm pretty sure the worst that will happen to Trump is that he would lose the election. That's about it. If he wins, then several Democrats should worry about investigations headed their way.
If your assumption is that Trump never intended to win, then he spent an awful lot of his own money to lose. It doesn't add up. He's also become one of the GOP's best fundraisers. If anything, he's become better at politics than he probably expected to be.

Where the hell do you think Kellyanne and Bannon came from? They were forced down trump's throat by Robert Mercer. trump was going to make a fortune (he thought) launching his new trump show. He's funneling tons of taxpayer money into his own pockets as POTUS, so I'm sure he thinks it's a wash.
But again, he exposed himself. Nobody would ever know about Stormy Daniels or Karen McDougal if he didn't win. There are campaign finance issues there, but he was smart enough to never answer anything under oath, so there is that.
Likewise for his illegal charity. And ultimately, when he can't suppress bank records, we're going see money laundering with foreign leaders.
None of this would even matter if he didn't win.

I've read several of Bolton's books on defense issues dating back to the 80's and 90's along with other articles on him. He impresses me as another McNamara who thinks his $h!+ don't stink and is the smartest guy in the room on such issues. I became less and less enthused with him the more I read. He was (and probably is) quite willing to bend facts and evidence to the breaking point to support his positions.
For example, in one book he railed on about how Cuba was getting MiG 23 aircraft and what a danger these posed to the US. Well, even at the time if you knew about that plane's capabilities just from publicly available knowledge you could tell he was full of it. But, he wanted to press the case for military action against Cuba, so he played up what he thought he could.
If you want to read his book and believe it, go for it. But, I'm not bothering because he likely hasn't changed one iota since then.

Do you really think that's not a problem with Trump?
He spent $66 million of his own money on his campaign in 2016. Yes, that's not a huge amount for a billionaire, but it's not exactly chump change either.
When considering how much he's been investigated over the last few years yet still hasn't been charged with anything, that means 1 of 2 things:
1) The investigations were nothing burgers.
2) He's pretty good at avoiding charges.
Either way, he'll be fine if he wins or if he loses.
If Trump loses, it will likely be due to the economy. Rightly or wrongly, the state of the economy often is the biggest factor that determines if an incumbent stays in office.
