Most of those were invented by the West, so which exact innovations has China made to improve those?

Perhaps they were invented in the West, but the West took it's eye off the ball and now China has leap-frogged out in front. I am a retired engineer, so I don't feel up-to-date enough to be an authority on the subject anymore.
However google is your best friend now!
I think you are trying to look @ this situation in segments of time... Personally I rarely do this because of the interconnection w/ other segments, time frames etc etc etc..
But for the sake of argument here I would agree that the US did "take their eye off the ball" whatever that means to you....
To me the USA has been on a non-stop rampage of wars, barely noticing the other 900,000,000 workers added to the international work force when China was allowed to join the WTO...
Simply put: from then on the USA has been @ war non-stop since & not winning, China on the other hand has not fired a shot across it's boarders & never stopped winning....
While we moved towards isolationism, the world has not-something like `160+ countries are on board w/ the belt & road initiative, we pulled out of the of transPacific deal, they are going forward w/out us, world climate accords which the USA & China essentially spearheaded has gone on w/out us.......
IMHO the world can & will certainly go on w/out us, do we wanna go on w/out them?? It seems clear they are not going to follow our lead.
China's engineers are a product of our capitalists looking for cheap unprotected labor and no environmental laws. They moved our manufacturing there and got tax incentives to do it. So the most current and up to date engineers are the ones that make the products. We moved there lock ,stock and intellectual property to make huge short term profits. Our elite made China's technology possible.

Bill, those are all excellent and valid points. There are so many dynamics to how and why the US is falling behind China, Germany, IndoAsia, in the technologies of tomorrow.you'd have to write a book to describe it all to be thorough enough.

China's not a particularly good leader, they're an oppressive regime.
It's not just China innovating, but countries all over.
There are some excellent books/info available on the topic, which is pretty hot since most of it is very current & the history up to date & verifiable..
Always tolls & deaf ears.
& isn't that the natural state?? Ppl have a lot going in their lives, some are not working, got bills, kids, school etc etc etcI don't think there is one person here that supports the CCP over the west/USA, w/ one exception & I don't even know his current name as it changes every month & his like & dislikes depend on what drugs he is taking & what side of his head hits the floor first after tripping on his own two feet..
