We Have So Much To Be Thankful To China For

Bill, those are all excellent and valid points. There are so many dynamics to how and why the US is falling behind China, Germany, IndoAsia, in the technologies of tomorrow.you'd have to write a book to describe it all to be thorough enough.

It just can't be said in a comment here on a political Hatred Forum like JPP! And it would just fall on deaf ears, blind eyes, and dumb brains anyhow!

china is ascending because the west was betrayed by corrupt totalitarian leaders, like the ccp itself. no other reason.

we used to curtail trade with totalitarian nations with dissimilar constitutions and human rights views. we just need to go back to that policy.

there is no great flaw in the west. we have treason at the highest levels.

China's not a particularly good leader, they're an oppressive regime.

It's not just China innovating, but countries all over.

That gives them an advantage. they do not have a system that inhibits quick change. It Xi says we will invest in solar tomorrow, they do. A benevolent dictatorship is the best and most responsive kind of government. There has never been one. Power corrupts. Trump has demonstrated that.

While I totally agree on the betrayal they would be quick to remind us it was & is legal & in fact they were even encouraged to make those moves..

But no, there were & are other reasons..........:|

no. all their slavery and suppression would not have been profitable unless they were allowed into wto.
it is the only reason.

lol, sure, but they were allowed in the wto.. :dunno: that is the reality in which we must live & compete~in the world we have, not the one we wish...

& then the USA went on a war rampage while China went to work............

The lives of their ppl increased four fold, the bottom 50% of the folks in this country?? Went down....

We spent/spend trillions on wars we loose, they spend little on it compared to us & win.......

Stupid IMHO..

We won the cold war w/out firing a bullet... How was that possible?

Not really, there's a lot of patents out of the USA.

Especially Blue states & some Swing states too.

Maybe you should read up about asymmetric warfare?

Hello Tacomaman,

I have come up with a good line that tRump can use on his braindead supporters:

"You know folks, I am tough on China. The toughest ever. If it were not for my severe case of bones spurs, I would be kicking that President XI's ass around the moon by now".

Maybe if he ate a more healthy diet he would have fewer health issues.

Hello Geeko Sportivo,

Perhaps they were invented in the West, but the West took it's eye off the ball and now China has leap-frogged out in front. I am a retired engineer, so I don't feel up-to-date enough to be an authority on the subject anymore.

However google is your best friend now!

Google is a massive and unprecedentedly intrusive corporation which keeps files on every user, tracks their web usage, and sells your aggregate data-driven information to mass marketers and political operatives. They also tailor the search results based on which other massive corporation pays them the most to have their links come out on top of your searches. Your searches are tailored based on previous searches, such that two people searching for the same thing will get different results.

"All this data is used to create your user profile, which can then be shared with third parties that in turn serve you customized ads. Truly private search engines don’t track you, and there are no intrusive ads that show you exactly the thing you were just talking about. The ads won’t be tied to your previous searches as private search engines don’t store your search queries or history. It’s no wonder that more and more people are protecting their privacy and avoiding the “filter bubble”.

The filter bubble describes the concept where a user will, while online, get personalized search results that provide results based on past online behaviour, displaying certain topics from a specific standpoint that keeps the user in a sort of intellectual isolation. The calculated information the user gets is based on all the data search engines collect: location, search history, and online click behaviour."

Fortunately there are numerous other options:

Google is NOT your friend

Hello Bill,

I think you are trying to look @ this situation in segments of time... Personally I rarely do this because of the interconnection w/ other segments, time frames etc etc etc..

But for the sake of argument here I would agree that the US did "take their eye off the ball" whatever that means to you....

To me the USA has been on a non-stop rampage of wars, barely noticing the other 900,000,000 workers added to the international work force when China was allowed to join the WTO...

Simply put: from then on the USA has been @ war non-stop since & not winning, China on the other hand has not fired a shot across it's boarders & never stopped winning....:|

While we moved towards isolationism, the world has not-something like `160+ countries are on board w/ the belt & road initiative, we pulled out of the of transPacific deal, they are going forward w/out us, world climate accords which the USA & China essentially spearheaded has gone on w/out us.......

IMHO the world can & will certainly go on w/out us, do we wanna go on w/out them?? It seems clear they are not going to follow our lead.:dunno:

Excellently astute observation.

We were the world leader until we gave the world the finger. We didn't have to give up that position, but somebody's ego got in the way.

Hello Gonzomin,

China's engineers are a product of our capitalists looking for cheap unprotected labor and no environmental laws. They moved our manufacturing there and got tax incentives to do it. So the most current and up to date engineers are the ones that make the products. We moved there lock ,stock and intellectual property to make huge short term profits. Our elite made China's technology possible.

Don't forget that we have torpedoed our own education system to keep our people dumb and subservient to propaganda, corporate masters, greed-aholics, and power junkies, while China has embraced STEM learning and catapulted ahead of us in education in order to crank out highly technical workers able to achieve what they have done.

Actually our education system is subservient to teachers and specifically the teachers union. And the reason is because they have political power.

It's not that teachers and students are in conflict per se but rather the powers that be care more about the teachers needs than what's best for the students. So you're bitching about the system that you vote to support. People like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and many others have spoken about the need for change and how we could change the system. But you don't want that change. You complain the status quo isn't good enough and fight people who want to change the status quo.

Our unionized teachers were providing the most admired public education in the world for generations. Unions did not enter the problem later. They were instrumental in maintaining an elevated educational system. The Repubs saw a profit in privatizing education, so they started demonizing teachers and slamming a great educational system. Propaganda works. Note of course that the same thing his happening to civil workers and the post office. The fact is they all have unions. The wealthy are still in the business of eradicating unions and making a profit off everything in the country.

Funny you never once mentioned what is best for the kids. Why is that? That's a rhetorical question because you addressed it, it's all about politics to you. Who fights reform in our education system? The teachers union. Why? Because they are looking out for their best interest which is what they exist to do except that their best interest isn't always in the kids best interest.

Steve Jobs, an Obama supporter, said it best when he met with Obama and that is our education system is hopelessly antiquated and crippled by teachers unions.

So don't sit here and complain that China educates their kids better than us while fighting for the status quo.

Hello Bill,

Not sure exactly what you mean by giving them the finger, or more importantly WHEN but there is zero doubt we have played the greater role in bringing this massive change about..

IMHO it now seems inevitable, the only question I wonder is if trump's efforts are delaying or exacerbating our decline, I am trending towards the latter..

Even if his actions have little relevance to the timing, in the larger scheme of things, one surely hopes they are not emulated~this is how a great world power acts, great world leader treats others.

Most Americans, including myself have never really given a lot of thought to how it will be-not being #1 & will we be treated like we have treated others?

To mix a couple quotes/metaphors:

As the lone superPower American corps~politicians ruled the world as they willed, the rest followed or suffered as they must..

And hopefully we will be remembered for our [benevolent intentions, and treated accordingly rather than our actions as we do others]

I knew it would not be long for someone to step forth & caste to first stone @ the ones doing the work............

I would love to invite you to teach a week or two in the school of my choosing someplace a few stone throws from where you & pelosi live...............

I don't for a min believe you are dumb nor naive, there are problems from the top to the bottom & expecting a jim crow rigged system to reverse course w/out structural change isn't going to happen~no matter how impoverished your kids teachers become........

That is a pretty slanted take on things.

The Bill Gates Foundation has definitely helped education in America by donating millions of vital dollars to education not provided by State legislatures.
