We have a lot to thank most countries for, whatever their current regims. Would the rule of the colonels wipe out the achievements of Greece, Mussolini wipe out the civilizing elements of the Roman Empire, Hitler destroy German music, the Vichy gang wipe out the achievements of France, Trump rub out all the liberating effects of the American Revolution? China has had an immense effect on human history, and anyone who denies that is pretending he was born yesterday, unless, I suppose, he was.

It's an absurd argument to say that evil is okay because of achievements.
By that logic we should have never attacked Germany, they achieved much more than China.
As for Mussolini he was more of a George W. Bush, than a Hitler, for sure.
Mussolini was a waste of time going after, we should have beat Stalin to the camps, instead we d(cked around with Mussolini.

I have checked your posts so far and seen the way you roll. Here's how I roll: I don't care how you treat others as long as you clean it up when you're talking to me. If you can do that, we can have some good discussions. If not, then we won't be talking. Fair enough?
I don't expect anybody to be thankful for China's denials. I certainly am not. They made a huge mistake by denying this in the beginning. I do not agree with communism, and I disapprove of the CCP.
But that doesn't erase the fact that the USA and the world have also benefited from some things that China has done. Nor does it erase the fact that we are stuck on the same planet with them and our economies are extremely interrelated and mutually dependent upon one another. China has been around a lot longer than the USA has. It is huge. We have to learn how to live with them going forward. We should certainly raise our concerns about their handling of the coronavirus. What we don't want is to get into a pissing match which might escalate into a war. That would be mutually destructive to both nations and probably draw others in as well, could devolve into a world war. If we are upset that this virus has caused thousands of deaths it would pale in comparison to an ill-considered response which led to war.
It also must be noted that our president did the exact same thing as the CCP. He went into denial mode for far too long, and that resulted in more deaths than needed to happen.
So just who is calling the pot black?

China is an imperical nation regardless converting to communism 80 years ago. America is an empirical nation of immigrants that learned from ancestral experience with governments like China and others ruled by dictatorships, society doesn't allow for personal recognition as one of a kind equal proportionment to the population timed apart now.
