We need Socialism. Socialism Is A Good Thing. Socialism Promotes The General Welfare.

We need a mixed economy, works best in all nations, the difficulties become determining which degree of capitalism and socialism blend the best

Republican politicians and message board posters have spent decades calling and disparaging Sweden, Norway, France, Denmark as "socialist" nations. So, unless they want to fess up to lying for decades, from the perspective of Republicans, Sweden represents socialism.

I happen to agree with you, and always have, that that a hybrid economy - a mix of regulated markets and a social welfare state - is unequivocally the preeminent and most egalitarian socio-economic achievement in human history.

"If anyone want to become a socialist in a hurry, he should come to the United States." - Maxim Gorky, 1906

I was going to "thank" that post...until the last line.

I'm 82...and fuck the "red scare."

Capitalism of the type we have...SCARES ME MORE.

Donald, the abomination, Trump...SCARES ME MORE.

Healthcare should indeed be taken out of the Capitalistic realm...and moved to a right.

Sufficient food for each individual should be move there next.

An education for every person who wants it...should also.

And, of course, there are others.

The basic needs of a decent life should be met for everyone...then the greedy can fight to get as much of the plenty that will be left.

People need to get "ism's" out of their head, and get their head out of their asses.

Just because the United States is a unique example of a Free Country and a symbol of freedom to the rest of the world, and we actually care about the welfare of all it's citizens, does not mean our government is some kind of a Socialist State.

What we truly are is a country where our markets are based on Free-Enterprise with Federally operated safety valves to help those in need of the essentials of life and well-being for all.

One thing for sure is, we are not a Plutocracy run by Plutocrats that only look out for themselves. We are better than that!

No such thing as free enterprise. We placed our first tariff in1789. We have over 12,500 of them now. We have always been a nation that referees commerce. It is needed because the wealthy will confiscate all wealth and power that they can. Regulation protects the people from the ruthless and powerful. The cry to end regulation that the wealthy are using as a war cry, should scare you. Regulation is required in America. you should be asking for more.

I don't think you and I are arguing about any of those things.

The thing is WE THE PEOPLE are supposed to be the ones that set up the Trade Agreements, Regulations, and the things that are not always Free in Free Enterprise like the paying of Corporate or Business Income Taxes, or having to pay the minimum wage that we should also be determined by WE The People, and the many other costs that go along with doing business in America- not some DICK TATOR like Donald Ass Trump and his Base of Idiots, or some House Leader like Paul Ryan that is bought and paid for by the special interests who have hijacked our legislative process and calling all the shots.

In other words the Republicans have got to go! They can't be trusted! Between Donald Ass Trump, Paul Ryan, and Bitch McConnell, the power has been totally taken away from WE THE PEOPLE.

because a little socialism means you can still keep capitalism idiot

the founders created a blend

go read up on our history

Hello Threedee.

You are not talking about socialism; you are talking about welfare statism and progressivism. Obviously, capitalism and socialism cannot co-exist at the same time.

Au contraire. This is nothing but tossing the word salad. The meanings of the words have changed over time, as most English words tend to do. The thing that most conservatives are talking about when they say socialism can and does exist right alongside capitalism in every major industrial country.

Only if people are too lazy to use words correctly. That is why I refer to leftists as leftist, and to the prevailing ideology upon which America and capitalism were founded, as liberalism.

This is an argument of labels. We need a name for the wealth gap problem that Republican politics creates. The rightys are creating a plutocracy by confiscating the profits the workers create. They are taking as many rights from the people as they can by installing a corporate supreme court, which is about to get worse. Corporations are people, and money = speech. what crap. Leveling out the wealth so people do not live in sheer desperation wondering what the future will bring, but knowing they have no real power to define it, is what our politicians should be dealing with. The wealthy control the masses by keeping them fighting each other. Every industrial society provides universal healthcare which is better quality and cheaper. Yet American think that is evil or bad. How stupid is that? Raising the min wage which would help the masses survive and provide them some kind of life, Americans think is bad? WTF. this is not thinking, but bad acceptance of programming. More pavlovian than thinking. Americans respond emotionally when you put a bad name on it regardless of how it would help the people.

yes

the republican party has worked for decades to destroy democracy

their willingness to cheat Americans voters out of their rights to steal the power our Democracy holds makes it crystal clear

Its time to recognize unabashedly that the republican/Russian party is the enemy of Democracy and our nation

Which party has super delegates as a mechanism for which to steal the votes of their own voters?
