What should the US do if Washington DC is made a state?

Because devolved mutants like Milquetoast Macaw and Drooling Guille are insanely afforded votes,

the so called "constitutional republic" will require dissolution and partition to avoid descending into total anarchy.

They're short term survival is totally dependent on not winding up on the wrong half of the divide.

California has had several iterations of carving out or relining the west coast for more states. Like Texas, it is all talk. However, DC is not. There are plans and politicians pushing it.

Under the Constitution, there is supposed to be a federal district that is not a state where the federal government operates. So, how would this be resolved?

My suggestion is we form a new federal district in the middle of the US, sort of like Brazil did with Brasilia in say Kansas or Nebraska. This would denude the East Coast of it's economic windfall and turn it into a massive Detroit. The loss of representatives in east coast states and the gain in mid-west states would ensure the House ends up Republican while the addition of two DC senators is rendered meaningless.

After all, if Washington DC is now a state it can't be the Constitutionally required federal district...

Simple. The SODC does not recognize the Constitution of the United States. There is no federal government anymore.

It has many more people than states like Montana and such.
But the name Washington is already taken.

Puerto Rico and DC as states would make the electoral vote a little closer to the popular vote in actual representation of the people.
But for me, our federal system is dogshit anyway. Parliamentary democracies are much more modern and efficient.

There is no democracy currently in the world. It is an unstable form of government. It usually quickly dissolves into an oligarchy or dictatorship. The UK is an oligarchy.

Not sure about this but if some of the land ceded by Maryland for a federal district is no longer going to be used as part of the federal district wouldn't it just revert back to Maryland?

If the Constitution was destroyed by the States, dissolving the federal government, then, yes. All such territories and federal buildings and lands would revert back into the State they came from, including all forts and the District of Columbia.

Washington DC won't be a state. IMO, the best solution is to give most of what is now DC back to Maryland for two main reasons:
1) As you posted, the Constitution.
2) The rights of citizens to fair and equal representation.

Most of the land was Maryland's. Give all but the critical sections of DC back to Maryland; especially the residential areas. Citizen who still fall in the DC zone will become Maryland residents for all purposes except mailing addresses.

Not to my knowledge. It literally takes an act of Congress, which they should do.

Making DC a state is bullshit. Lots of Federal buildings are not in DC. AFAIK, the only things that need to be there are the seats of the three branches of government. All the worker bees can be farmed out to other states as most already are.

Congress would no longer exist, should the federal government be dissolved.

Figures you are against the Constitution.

OTOH, your dream will never happen. There are legitimate reasons for government at all levels and, therefore for a federal government.

How much at all levels varies, but I favor more State's Rights, less Federal authority.
