what was the best time in American history?

see the real facts of this countrys history prove how failed your ideas really are.

they are trash

Deshy, when are you going to tell us when your preferred period was? So far it seems like you hated all of them which by your definition means you hate America

I already answered you fucking idiot.

Your just so willfully stupid you didn't understand the answer

Probably post WW2....There were jobs a plenty. We had no global competition because our two main ones were destroyed(Japan and Germany). Unions were being accepted as part of the cost of labor, but it was before unions got too powerful.

My problem with post WWII is the discrimination against women, minorities, and LGBTs.

I too, oddly, would say the best part is still to come. Our country just keeps getting better and better. Sure there are tough decades; but overall we're continuing to become more civilized - fewer states with the death penalty; we're treating our handicapped citizens better; we're understanding drug addiction is a disease, not a crime; we're expanding rights for minorities, women, LGBTs; our younger generation is MUCH more tolerant than any generation so far; we've cleaned up our air and land and water since the 50s/60s/70s; we continue to debate issues about govt spying and forfeiture laws, etc.

Not perfect by any means right now; but every decade in most ways we're getting better.

Oh - and I think more and more of us are coming around to the idea that single payer health care is the way to go!! ACA is a step in the right direction, but I think we are now at least acknowledging our citizens should have health care, and I look forward to it becoming more universal!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_recessions_in_the_United_States

go down this list and look at the frequency and length of the recession in this country.

note what happens after glass steagal.

the wealthy like boom and bust because it constantly frees up capital.

the whole reason we had the economic crash was the wealthy wanted at the money in peoples mortgages.

The right in this country orchestrated it

Amazing that you think the financial crisis was summed up in one act signed by Bill Clinton. Utterly amazing that you would blame the entire thing on Bill Clinton. He was the one who signed it right? I didn't imagine that?

universally shitty, but hey, who cares right? as long as it sucks for everyone?

You think Germany and Japan were our main pre-WWII global competition?

Should we wage another global war to eliminate China and bring back your golden era?

I would alter what he stated in that it was the devastation in Europe as a whole (plus Japan) that allowed us to move forward with little in the way of competition.

Take note folks the only right leaning people who even post now are these fucking brain dead trolls who do nothing but sling personal insults and know nothing about anything except what Rush and Hannity tells them.

the other right wing posters don't have the fucking guts to come here and admitt all their shit has turned into worse shit.

They have been YET AGAIN proven wrong by history YET instead of accepting reality they fucking hide and watch the trolls be trolls

so much irony

Dear Desh... if you want a discussion on the question (which was a good question), instead of demanding others answer it and stomping your feet when they don't, perhaps you could begin with 'here is the time I think was the best and why I think that', THEN ask others for their input.

and how did the Reagan deficit ballooning work in our favor?

You asked what we thought the best time frame was. Perhaps you would answer your own question?

I can pick good and bad points to every single period in our history. 1982-2000 was the best in my opinion. If you care to discuss, provide your dates and then we can do so.

As for the deficit, it ballooned under FDR as well. Does that alter your opinion of him? How about Obama? Clinton?
