Actually, they can't...because there is currently a case in federal court where Trump is arguing he doesn't have to release them.

So the NYT isn't going to break the law until that decision is made.

But they can still report the shit out of it.

so lets understand this in full.......it is illegal to make Trump's taxes public but they can tell everyone about Trump's taxes without breaking that law?......and a lawyer told you this somewhere?.....

I saw his 2019 taxes on the net a few months ago. The first half listed all his assets. They were impressive. It was a long list of very expensive properties. They really added up, but his estimates of value were worthless. He claimed as an example that many were 50 million. Nothing is that. He was making them up. But still, it was an impressive list.
Then the debts were listed. As I added them up they took away the balance eating up the assets. He was kind of still in the black, but he had some serious debt coming up nearly simultaneously. They are a real problem. He can not easily liquidate the properties since he owes so much. The banks are personal loans. That puts him in more and personal jeopardy.

Yes, that is exactly what they can do.

Trump's tax records are privileged and confidential, but there's no law against reporting what's in them without publishing them.

Again, Trump could clear this all up if he released his tax returns.

But he won't. Just like how you won't verify any of these businesses you claim to own.

why call ME a liar......you're the one that claimed there was a lawsuit preventing the NYT from doing something.........one thing I do know, if tax returns are privileged and confidential the NYT is breaking the law if they have them......

Also, unless he's going to sell his properties to his creditors at inflated rates, unloading all of them will still leave him in the red, thanks to the billions in personal loans he has.

The only way they can be published without breaking that confidentiality is if a court orders it, or if the party releases them.

That is the heart of the lawsuit.
