It started with Gingrich and his contract on America. Realizing that this party would never take control of the House, he sold Republicans on the concept of 'monkeys flinging shit'.

It worked, and decades later they have forgotten all about the reasons for serving the nation, and focus on winning at any cost.

Most often, it means acting in direct contradiction to what is best for the nation when they are a minority, and acting to repay moneyed interests when they are a majority.

It's not working out very well for the nation

Post Reagan. Bush 1 suffered the consequences of Reagan's failed policies. S&L industry was destroyed. Thousands of unfinished malls/timeshares littered the nation.

Imagine how pissed the nation was if they elected a guy who promised to raise taxes?

It didn't sit well with Gingrich, after the internet accidentally made Clinton a success.

Do you really believe one President can do all of that? Do you credit Clinton with the economy of the 90s? I do not. Sure, Presidents have influence, but Congress passes the legislation, Presidents only sign it or veto the entire bill.

The S&L crisis and, 20+ years later, the home mortgage crisis, all had their origins in Congress years before Reagan, Clinton and Bush the Lesser ever came to power.

IMO, it's easier for most people to credit or blame a single face than credit or blame 535 faces.

Add in the fact that when the 81 trickle down lie was put into effect it did exactly what he planned it to do , For the last 40 years it has given all the new wealth of this country which was massive to the golden few at the top , in fact that is literally the only reason that the right exist. They are this countries biggest threat to capitalism. When [people read the facts and understand the facts and finally realize that by taking all the new wealth of this country they have destroyed the number one reason that makes capitalism the only way and that is taking away the possibility of the potential to get ahead. This will destroy our system and I believe our country also. We are tied in a knot with the capitalistic system .

Disagreed on the actual number, and I don't have one, but I readily agree the Republican Party is more fucked up than the Democratic Party...which is saying a lot.

The Democratic Party has been as fucked up for as long as I can remember which is why I never voted for a Democratic President. The Republican Party only started going down hill as the Cold War was winding down and the religious wackos moved in.

Now the Republican has gone from being rationally superior to the overly-emotional Democrats to being insane caricatures of their former party.

Buddy you have no clue. The president has the most power by far in our system. Its called the veto and he has executive orders that he can dictate. He select judges, The president has the final answer on everything during his presidency, The number one example is tell us what congress has to do to over turn a veto. And what can they do to to stop the presidents executive orders and how can they stop him from filling the courts. He is in charge of the Military , he commands and directs the military and is responsible for planning military strategy. , he is in charge of selecting Ambassadors , He directs foreign policy. Buddy you have no clue.

There is wisdom in conservative values as most parents, regardless if they want to admit it or not, come to understand. It's a natural progression which many people far wiser than I have have commented upon and you, being wise albeit excitable, have certainly read, heard and discussed.

Unfortunately, in its current state, I think you and I can agree that the Republican Party has little that is good for We, the People.
