no doubt he does..........I have found that the early presidents regretted fighting for limited government because it limited their power as president. I'm sure most presidents have felt the same....

A Republic is a form of Democracy. What you actually want is an Oligarchy, which I'd say is further from the American ideal than the kind of Democracy I want. I want to improve on the Founders' ideas, you want to throw them out completely.
