I am not talking about a "they"...I am talking about an "it."

Libertarianism is an IT. And it causes me to be very, very cautious.

My guess is there are more people who consider themselves libertarians than you suppose right now. My fear is that, like Trump, it will gain appeal even though it is the dregs of the planet.

It won't. The Right isn't actually about "small government," it's about using the government to enforce a hierarchy. That's why actual small government guys like Ron Paul always get around 4% of the vote when they run for president.
Though at this point, I think I'd prefer lolbert lunacy to Trumpian Fascism.

It depends on degree I suppose.....

I would say it fails for a different reason -- it doesn't take into account certain externalities.

Libertarianism would be the best philosophy in the world, if every nation was libertarian. Since the world is much more Machiavellian than that, libertarianism works better within a very limited context. It serves well for the sake of things like personal freedoms and limiting certain aspects of government. It doesn't work so well with regard to foreign policy or immigration policy.

Depends on the libertarian. A lot of them are really into bitcoin. Also, many libertarians advocate for competing currencies with no government backing. Granted, the line between libertarian and anarcho-capitalist is blurred.

That seems like an odd thing to fear, when considering that libertarianism is very similar to Classical Liberalism, which is the basis of our society.

Granted, I realize that modern progressivism has steered us pretty far away from Classical Liberalism and more toward statism.

libertarians talk about sound currencies, but still insist that the corporations that run on this devil fuel are morally pure cuz trade.

Some might fit that, but plenty of libertarians have figured out the issues with corporate law. It's a similar problem with regard to intellectual property laws.

If you have an issue with hierarchies, you shouldn't like the progressive one either. Their hierarchy is about pandering to whatever the identity group of the week is. If you happen to be white and cisgender, you're near the bottom of that hierarchy.

I don't really think SJW Progressives are that common. The so-called Anti-SJW movement just sees SJW things everywhere. Marvel releases like 20 movies where the main character is a male, then they release Captain Marvel, and Anti-SJW YouTube goes nuts about WOKE FEMINISM. Pretty soon, after all the movies with straight superheroes, we're going to get a movie with a gay superhero, and the Right will rant and rave about how cisgender males are being pushed out of cinema.

I would agree that some of the reactions by the right on those things are ridiculous, although the power of woke capitalism is very real. People have lost their jobs over disagreeing with BLM, for example.

The hierarchy might not always be government enforced, but it's widespread enough in the economy that you basically have to maintain certain views (or stay silent) to keep in the good graces of the progressive hierarchy.

You have to buy into the anti-white narrative. But other than that, I don't think Woke Capitalism is a thing. At the very most, corporations are seeing that girls read comic books and watch superhero movies too, so now they're creating more stories with female protagonists. Not because they want to brag about being woke, but because they like making money.
