Why millennials are leaving the church?

So....by admitting that there is no biblical basis for our inalienable rights....that means that those rights are of man's design...notably, the authors of the document NOT God in a literal sense....correct?

no, why?.....do you feel that man simply imagined them?.....I have to admit it wouldn't have sounded half so good to have a DoI that said...."We hold these truths to be made up by us as we found convenient, that all men are endowed by us certain enumerated rights that we may or may not continue to grant them"......
So in conclusion....we can assume that these rights are inalienable because we say so. Not because they are given to us by God himself.

well, obviously, if we fail to protect those rights they aren't inalienable are they.....the unborn, for example......as you've argued.....there are no consequences for killing the unborn till judgment day.......

Don't turn this into an abortion thread....it's bad enough now that it's gone so far off track from the OP.

The subject turned predictably, from why young people are leaving the church into yet another "we are a Christian Nation" thread. I am asking where in the Bible does it describe these inalienable rights that are given by God.

You admitted there is no biblical basis. So, how can these rights be from our creator if the creator's word(the Bible) does not explain them?

In terms of proving god exists or doesn't exist; I'm re-reading "Anathem" by Neal Stephanson, and an example there is something like - if you were told that pink spotted elephants were going to come flying through the air, would you believe it?

Could we prove that a pink spotted elephant would never fly through the air? No, but we immediately reject the possibility because when we start imagine flying elephants of any color we realize there is just no point in going down that road.

Well, it's said much better in the book; but to say that somewhere out there there could be a supreme being that violates all the scientific laws we have discovered - sorry, no point in going down that road.

Ask Jefferson he wrote the words. So where do you think our rights come from?

Our Nation's Constitution. Which not one of you can find a biblical basis for. You would think...if we were actually a Christian Nation....that you would see scripture to back up the claim that our rights were endowed by God...or "our Creator".

Just because Christianity is the dominant religion in America doesn't make America a Christian Nation.

Oh I see, Santa chose to use your children to move you. Or maybe you are an a-santaist none of that disproves Santa.

but that isn't how he said he works......he said he slides down the chimney and puts the presents there himself......or aren't you a Carol literalist?........next you'll be telling me that some Coke exec excluded the real Santa story as depicted in the apocryphal tree ornaments.......

Jeremiah 31:33
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.

This is just another stupid attempt by the cultist pmp to add another book to the Bible. There is nothing in the bible that leads to our libertarian DofI or constitution. Just like there is nothing in it to support his fraudulent creationist science. He will read it like some idiot with a Nostradomus tract trying to twist its meaning and that of the DofI and Constitution into agreement, but its just nonsense.

Ya think?
